Hey keep us informed on your thoughts about the FiveFingers. I've been gradually switching to more and more miles with the lightweight trainers and racing flats and I really like the lighter shoes once the lower leg and feet get acclimated. It will be interesting to see how you, Sasha, Lybi and any other 5Finger guinea pigs hold up running with the fancy sock/shoe.
So far I can only last for very short distance runs....my calves were *very* sore for a couple of days after run #1. Not as bad after run #2, but I'll keep you updated.
I'm interested in the Five Fingers as well, especially the durability. They are available here in Germany but at a shameful price. Between 85-100 Euro which is about 130-155 US dollars. I shall wait until the price drops or a cheaper version appears on the market. As far as I know they are produced in Italy, and so exported to the States and sold far cheaper than here. Yet another example of us being ripped off here in Germany with sports shoes and clothing.
I'm alive....took a family vacation and decided to leave the laptop at home so no email/internet. How liberating! And I only ran twice and gained nearly 8 lbs. So tomorrow it's back on the training bandwagon.
Ian: I got mine at www.kayakshed.com. Pretty reasonable and they do ship overseas but will charge you for shipping. But of course you can't try them on...
