Personal:

I know Sasha from the CS program at BYU. We both graduated in 1997. He probably doesn't remember me, because he was definitely more vocal in class and among the students than I was.

Married to Teresa with 3 kids: Anders (4), Kristian (9), and Zoe (12).

Fluent in Danish, but there is obviously very little need for that.

Got up after very little sleep. I didn't have enough time to do more than 6.5 miles, but it's better than nothing.

AM: Fairly easy run. Things felt better than yesterday, even after the late night in the city (NYC) last night for St Patricks Day. I brought my gear into work so I could run back to the hotel. It's about 3 miles, but I will stretch it out on the trail.

PM: Ran back to the hotel from the office. It was about 3.5 miles. No big deal. I had to carry my wallet and phone with me. I think Joe (the guy I'm traveling with) was disappointed that I would rather run than go into NYC, but going into the city cuts into my schedule too much. Besides, I don't drink, so the lure of night life isn't as strong for me as it is for him. I would rather sleep than chill at a bar. Someone said I was boring, but then I pointed out that they don't get thrills from almost killing themselves on trails like I do. I thought it was a good point.

AM: It was raining outside, so I had to do part of the morning workout inside. I did a mile on the elliptical to get warmed up, then did a mile on the treadmill without shoes. I wanted to see if I could pull off barefoot running on the treadmill, and I had pretty good results with it. I definitely felt the working out of the ankle area, because running without shoes forces you on your toes. To not put too much strain on that area, I kicked the speed down to about a 9:20 mile. Then I put the shoes back on and went outside for 2.5 miles.

PM: Another 3 on the treadmill. It was too wet outside. Did the usual light upper body workout as well.

It was too wet to run on the trail, so I took to the roads. I went out about 3.5 miles and came back when I was sufficiently lost. Of course, I knew the way back. I just didn't know where I was.

I got up early (still on east coast time). I kicked back and played a little xbox until the sun came up (arond 7am). Then I went outside and noticed the hose faucet was leaking, so I had to run to the hardware store and fix it. I got done around 8, and went out on the Bonneville Shoreline trail. I saw 3 guys on bikes trying to ride the trail. If I go out with riders that are decent, we go about the same pace, but these guys were out of shape and slow. So I passed them up and never saw them again. I hurried back and got my stuff together. Had to drop by the office and then catch a ride out to the in-laws' house in Vernal.

AM: I got out on the trail down by the Green River. It was a cold morning, but it's so dry out there that anything approaching freezing doesn't feel cold. The trails were mostly clear, but I came across a couple snowbanks, and the dry riverbeds were muddy. I usually run back through the dry riverbeds. I tried to get up to the overlook bluff, but a snowbank kept me from getting to the top. 8.5 miles.

PM: Did 2 loops around the lake for 11 miles. Burned off that heavy Easter lunch!
