Personal:

I know Sasha from the CS program at BYU. We both graduated in 1997. He probably doesn't remember me, because he was definitely more vocal in class and among the students than I was.

Married to Teresa with 3 kids: Anders (4), Kristian (9), and Zoe (12).

Fluent in Danish, but there is obviously very little need for that.

Once again, I am unable to break 1:16 at the half marathon. I ran this one about 30 seconds faster than Provo River last August, so I guess that's good. Especially considering I ran it as part of the relay so I didn't have the competition or motivation that running the real 1/2 marathon would have given me. The other thing to consider is that my total distance was 13.29 instead of 13.1, which might have been because I took the baton before the relay handoff instead of after. I'm not sure, though. If the distance was off and I really ran 13.29 instead of 13.1, then I did finally break 1:16.

Mile splits:

1) 5:46 - I was fully warmed up and ready for it

2) 6:06 - The hill. Didn't slow me down too much.

3) 5:40 - Slight downhill after the hill

4) 5:55 - Rolling

5) 5:35 - The biggest downhill of the course

6) 5:52 - Leveling off through the canyon

7) 5:54

8) 5:38

9) 5:27

10) 5:43

11) 5:12

12) 6:03

13) 5:50

.1) 1:40 (The Garmin gave me a total of .29 distance for the last bit, giving me a total of 13.29 miles run instead of 13.1)

Unfortunately, my right achilles was nagging me through the run. It didn't slow me down, but I'm paying for it now. It looks like I might be out a few days with inflamation issues while it heals. Time for ice and a bit of scraping.

Great job on your race! Chris was really impressed, he says you are on fire this year and can't wait to see what else you do!

On the side note, I have seen a lot of blogs stating that their gps said 13.2 for the half marathon, so I bet you did beat your time.

I thought you were just doing a work out, since you were behind me at first and you seemed so relaxed. I agree it is much harder to push a race that is a relay. I like to start with my competitors-it's really helpful. You did great despite that disadvantage! I would think Ogden is harder than the Provo Canyon 1/2.

Nice race performance! A couple of bloggers were confused when they saw my name appear with Bill's for the relay. I wish I could take credit for such an amazing time!!

Great time! When something is nagging me I will scrape everyday if I have to. Hope the recovery is going well. I think you will definatally break 1:16 at the end of the summer.

Thanks for all your comments-

Laurie- It was good to see you running strong. Good job on the weight loss this year. Hopefully we'll see Chris (The Pope) back soon when his knee is better. He sounded positive when we saw him after Ogden.

Michelle- I had no idea you were that fast. Are you SURE you don't want to be on Andrea's all-girls WBR team? Please??!!! lol

Christina- Thanks for letting me take your spot. I hope you had fun running less miles. I needed the half-marathon distance to see where I was at this year.

Josse- I have been scraping every day. It's helping. I got out this morning and did a 6.5 miler, and it felt pretty good after the first mile. Big relief.
