Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

PM - 3.1 miles outside.  It was still extremely hot out at 9:30 PM - still over 100 degrees. (gack!).  It was also blowing a little dust.  That being said, the run wasn't too bad.  I didn't get to run earlier this week because I was at a family reunion and didn't bring any running clothes with me.  Not to mention I was tied up pretty much all day every day with watching our boys so that Lybi didn't have to over-exert herself and have a setback in her recovery.  Average pace tonight of 8:10/mile.

PM - 3 easy miles outside in the heat of the night.  Although I think the temperature was about the same as last night, tonight's run felt much easier, for some reason.  Perhaps it was because of the lack of wind, or perhaps it was because I didn't eat too much for dinner.  In any case, I felt a lot better today.  Average pace of 7:55/mile.

PM - 4 easy miles outside.  It was a relatively balmy 94 degrees outside tonight, compared to a couple days ago, so it felt pretty nice outside.  I decided I was going to do 4 miles today and was able to do it feeling pretty good.  I still need to lose a lot of weight, but at least my running form is starting to come around.  I will keep it easy for several months - no speedwork - so that I can build up my base.  I would love to be able to do London's Run next year and break 1:30 (for that matter, I would love to run around 1:25), but we will see how things go a day at a time.  I also decided to start logging my food intake at mypyramidtracker.gov, instead of trying to go back on weight watchers.  They have several tools there that can help me determine where I need to work on improving my diet, and I will be logging my exercise there as well.

PM - 2.5 miles outside, later in the evening.  The cooling trend continues - it was only 90 degrees out tonight when I stepped out the door.  Alas, I think that it is not going to continue.  We're supposed to heat up again this week.  Running today felt a bit harder than yesterday, but that could be from a long day, from running longer yesterday (if you can call 4 miles longer), or from not enough sleep.  Dunno.  In any case, average pace was 7:53/mile.
