OK, so I laid low for a while, rested up from my injuries, and in the meantime lost 20 pounds. I am sure the extra weight played a role in my getting injured. I still have about 5 more pounds to lose, but I feel much better. I feel ready to start back up again (slowly). Ran two miles today, and boy did it feel good. Walked the first mile, ran the second, walked the third, ran the fourth, then walked the last 1/2 mile back home. Mile splits were as follows:
1st mile: 7:20 (felt good, did not expect this fast of a mile)
2nd mile: 7:01 (whoops! It felt really good, and I was concentrating on my form)
I will continue to take it easy and start off slowly, running only 3x/week for right now. I am planning on continuing to integrate my runs into my walks for the time being. Woohoo! |
