Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

No miles today.  I don't remember ever being this sore after a race.  I take consolation in the fact that some of the elites on the blog feel the same way as I do, although I would say for me I feel like my lower body got run over by a Mack truck.  I am not even at the stage where I can attempt to do any light jogging or even cross-training, when standing up from a sitting position or sitting from a standing position causes me a great deal of pain.  I will give it a few more days and see how my legs feel - they actually seem to be better today (Tuesday) then they were the previous day.  Maybe one or two more days of forced inactivity, and I will be ready to start out again.  I have given myself the goal of no more than 1 week of no running, earlier if possible.

Can you bike? What about stationary bike?

Ouch! - I can sympathize with your pain, you're giving me flashbacks of my 1st couple of SG marathons. If your able to follow the downhill training advice that Sasha and others have given you I think it will make a huge difference for next year.

I noticed you updated your goals and they're looking very much inline with what myself and a few others on the blog are hoping to do next year. I know at least PaulT, MichelleL and probably others have shown interest in running next year in the 2:55-3:00 range. Hopefully we can keep an eye on each other and encourage each thru the next year and see another round of glorious PRs.

I'm not sure I can even bike today - well, I may be able to do easy biking for ROM only - I will have to see. I was planning on just giving myself a couple of days to completely recover, then start up again. I will be monitoring my body on a regular basis to see what it is capable of.

Just heard about your marathon. You da man! I sympathize with the leg pain. I felt the same way after my first marathon. There were stairs at the airport to get up to my gate and I almost cried. Walked funny for 3 or 4 days.
