Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

Lunch - 5.1 miles outside.  It was quite a bit warmer out today than what I was used to. I intended for this to be a nice, easy run, but I was all pumped up from having watched the Boston marathon this morning, and so I ended up running faster than planned.  This was also in part due to my not having my Garmin with me.  The temperature was about 90 degrees at the start, and was about 93 when I finished.  Not super uncomfortable, but I could tell it was hotter than I was used to.  Average pace for the run was 7:03/mile.  I am counting this as 1 easy mile and 4.1 MP miles

that's a great pace in those temperatures.

I'm not sure how hot it was at the gym, but certainly not 90. Good job.

I rode my bike home and it was about 94-95. Not too bad, but the funny thing is, when I get next to some of the farms out there, it all of the sudden gets really cool. I mean really cool. Like maybe the fields are irrigated and the heat is causing a lot of moisture in the air which cools it way down. I don't know, but that's my theory.

Thanks, Cal and Paul. Burt, I have noticed the same thing if I ever go by one of those orange groves - I think that your idea is probably right - has to do with wator vapor in the air creating a cooling effect.
