Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

AM - Warmed up easy, then ended up doing 1 MP (or more like Tinman pace) mile, then cooled down with an easy mile.  The only mile I remember the splits for was the second mile in 7:45.  Ran another 0.6 easy miles, very slow, then another Tinman tempo mile in 7:47.  Total distance of 4.6.  The horses are more than neighing, they are rearing and pawing the ground.  The second mile of this run felt like I was jogging, it was so easy.  Getting really excited for SGM!

As I left St. George this weekend, I looked back and wondered what it would look like with thousands or crazy runners. (hee, hee) I wish I could've left a "good luck" sign painted on some of those beautiful red bluffs. But they probably would've carted me off! So, you'll have to just believe me when I say I'm rooting for you and wishing you a great marathon this weekend! I'm glad to see you're so positive. I think mentally, I would have a very hard time with a marathon. You seem to be preparing mentally very well!

Tinman tempo pace = wife's 1 mile tempo pace. I like that! I am so proud of you James! I can hardly wait to watch you come in! Keep those stallions in check until Saturday.

James I'm really excited that you are running in St. George! I wanted to make sure I wished you luck before you left. I'm sure you don't need luck, you will do great, but I wanted to let you know we are cheering for you all the way from NM!
