Personal:

I was married in 1997 to my beautiful wife Lybi (confessions of a piano teacher on the blog), and we have 3 wonderful boys who are just as active as I was when I was little (he he). I grew up in southeastern Michigan, and my family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 6. I attended BYU, and served a mission in Berlin, Germany. After graduating from BYU with a degree in Health and Human Performance (pre-physical therapy), I promptly changed careers and started working with computers (although no programming for me). We have moved across the country several times, and currently live in Mesa, AZ.  I work in computer security for a major nationwide homebuilder.

AM - the horses were definitely neighing today, but I managed to calm them down and urge patience.  4.2 miles in 35:00, average pace of 8:20.  This felt like jogging today.  Another 0.8 with Sparky untimed.  Feeling good for St. George.  I have decided I am going to have 3 goals:

1.  Gold:  3:10 or under

2.  Silver:  3:15 or under

3.  Bronze:  3:20 or under

These are subject to change based on how I feel, and I think that the morning of the race will determine what pace I feel good about running at.  Only 2 more days after today until we leave for St. George.  I am getting really excited, not only for the race, but also for the pre-race party, to meet everyone.

I think it is really good to set goals like yours in the marathon or any race because so mich can happen in 26.2 miles and you don't set yourself up for disappointment. I always set my goals like that. Good luck on saturday.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Looking forward to meeting those of you attending the pre-race pasta party. Clay, I am thinking of you and have been checking your blog - good job of staying off that leg while it heals. Often we feel like an injury may be completely healed when, in fact, it is still quite tender and easy to re-injure. I have no doubt you will come back stronger. Keep up the eliptical training and gradually transition back to running from the eliptical so as to not place too much stress back on your legs at once.
