| | We warmed up, did 6X200m then cooled down. I was faster than I should've been on these(they were supposed to be at goal race pace), but since I had to skip the run this morning it was alright. Then a nice cool down. When I got home I ran a little bit more with my dog. | Add Comment |
| | Mack and Back, with strides. I also practiced some hand-offs for the medly. This will be my first time doing it, and my coach wants me to help qualify them for state. | Add Comment |

Region V 1600m (1 Miles) 00:04:21, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1
1.5 mile warm up, stretches and strides. I've been really nervous for this race for a while, because it felt like I had a lot of expectation. Coach Write said just to run it tactilly, and not care about time. Just give it enought to win it, and save anything else for state.
The gun went off, and so did everyone around me. I didn't start out too well, but I was alright with it. I went around the pack during the first 200m and then just cut in and ran in back of Brian Jasper of Bonneville. The pace felt really easy, and I tried to pass him at the 400m mark, but he threw in a surge, and I let him lead for a while. We came across the 400m at 63, which seemed a lot faster than I thought we were running. I just stayed behind him and drafted for the next two laps. 2:11 was the 800m mark, which was faster than I thought we would be. We were at 3:20 at the 1200m mark. Right here coach yelled at me to kick, but when I tried to pass Jasper, Adam Hendrickson and Tanner Blaylock of Box Elder both flew around me. I passed Jasper at the 300m mark, and got out in lane 3 to pass the Box Elder duo. I thought I passed them, but when I tried to get into lane one on the turn I ran straight into Adam's arm, where he pushed me back to get some space. I stayed behind him with the rest of the turn, and when we hit 80m to go, I tried to pass him. He started getting out in lane 2 or 3 for the finish shoot, and I was trying to get on that side, so it was hard to pass him. We both fought pretty hard, and we didn't know who won, it was that close. My coach said I beat him, but I wasn't sure. After about an hour or so, they finally put up results, which said I beat him by a quarter second. That must have been the shortest quarter second in the world, because it felt much closer.
Afterward I did a good cool down, and the rest of the meet got post-poned because of lightning. | Comments(1) |

Region 5 3200m and Medly (2 Miles) 00:09:31, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1
Warmed up with Kyler and Nick. Nick looked like he was ready and focused for a fast 3200m. We got to the start line, lined up and everything. But then the lightning went off instead of the gun, and the meet was post-poned for 2 or 3 hours. Great, just what we wanted. After a long while of getting wet and doing everything to stay dry, and then giving us 10 minutes of warning before the race, the men's 3200m started. I didn't get out too well, but my coach just wanted me to tuck behind someone, and finish strong. I stayed behind the pack, and in the 2nd or 3rd lap I saw Adam and Cade were dropping them, so I tried to get behind them. During this I accidently cut Kyler off and spiked him. He says he didn't feel it, but it looked terrible. During the rest of the race I drafted off Adam and Cade until 2 laps to go. I ran a 1:05 for the 2nd to last lap, and a 1:07-08 for the last lap. I felt great afterward. Nick didn't do as well as he wanted (probably because of the race getting post-poned), but Kyler PR'ed at 10:01, so that was good for Sky View. Cade was second, and Adam was third, then two more Box Elder guys, then Kyler. After I did a good cool down, and got ready for the medley. I needed to be in the top 2 to help the team get a spot at state. Our 200 runners gave us a good lead, and our 400m runner went a bit slower than the other teams, but not by much, so when I got the baton I was in third. I messed up on our hand off a bit, and that lost about a half second, which seemed like a lot of time at first. I tried to close the gap quickly. That didn't work too well. Johnny Perez of Logan had a good lead, and the Bonneville team had an even bigger one. I kept pushing it, not letting Johnny get any farther ahead. I knew I could catch him, because he already ran the open 800m. I pushed it, and finally caught him at the 50m to go mark. It felt great to help them qualify for state. Cool down afterwards. I didn't get home until 9:10, which was way later than I wanted.

Golf Course run today. Also, Sky View took region yesterday! 4th time in the last 5 years, or something like that.
2 easy miles later.

Ran 3 with pacing my sister in a 5k. She got 21:55, which I thought was great, but she was a bit disappointed.
