Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

3 miles easy this morning.  Legs felt great, weather was great, I wanted to go for more, but BYU is this week.

6.75 milesish.  We warmed up, then did 3X400m at F pace(800m race pace, maybe faster for some of us who aren't as good at the 800 as we are at the other events) with a good recovery of 700m, then 6X200m at F pace with 400m recovery.  I felt really good with these today.  My times for the 400m were all 58's.  Tyson was close for all of these.  During the 200m my times were 28s with the wind, and 29s against the wind.  Those felt great, and I had Tyson and Calvin to chase in these ones.  Afterward we went on cool down.  I'm happy with how the workout went today.  I did this same one before Arcadia, and my times were slower 1:02-03 for the 400s, and my 200m were 30-31.  I'm hoping for a sub-9 at BYU, but the I don't know if it'll happen.  The race is at 4500 feet above sea level, instead of at sea level.

7 miles.  Tyson and I warmed up, then did 3 sets of mile at tempo, then 200m at rep, then 200m rest, 200m at rep, then 200 rest.  My first mile was: 5:02ish(I'm not 100% sure because I had to restart my watch for the 200m, because there wasn't any rest in betwen the mile and 200m), then 31s for the 200 meters.  Next my mile was 5:08ish right where it needed to be, and my 200 meters were 34ish.  A bit slow that one, then my last one I took a longer break and did my mile in 4:58, then took a break before the 200m.  They both ended up being 31s.  I was supposed to also do a 300m at F pace, but my left hamstring was hurting for the whole workout, and coach said it would be best to play it safe and not run it.  After I did 1 mile cool down.

Easy miles with Strides.  My hamstring is feeling better, but still ached a bit.  My strides were weird.  It seemed like I couldn't push them.  I was trying to sprint but I wasn't going fast, or atleast it felt, and Tyson said he felt the same way.

Well, I wrote this race report twice, but accidently hit backspace both times, and deleted it.  So I think I'll write it later.

I warmed up with Kramer and then got ready for the race.  I was seeded 3rd to last, so that made me feel like I had absolutely no pressure.

The race went out at a pretty good pace.  I took the lead at 250m into it, and came across the 400m mark at 62 high, 63 low, and then kept the lead until the 700m mark where Jake passed me.   I came across the 800m mark at about 2:07-0.8  Marcus from some school I don't know passed me in the third lap, and I think Brayden McLelland, Kramer, and Ricky did a little later on too.  I came across the 3rd lap at about a 3:14  With 300m to go I tried to kick, and I passed Marcus, then was in 5th with 200m to go.  I felt great.  Then I tried to kick as hard as I could, but then a little bit of doubt came into my head, and I eased up, then tried to kick again.  With 100 to go I tried to pass Kramer and Brayden, but didn't pass them both.  I bearly passed Kramer right before, but mostly because he eased up his last stride.  Afterward I felt pretty good, too much energy for after the race, and I feel like I should've kicked earlier.  Later, Tyson and I went to Jamba Juice for some smoothies, but that was a lot closer than we thought, and then went on another cool down afterward.

Once I got home, I went on a 3 mile run in Cache Valley.  It was really, really windy.
