Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks. 

PRs: 800: 1:56.80-State Track 2014

1600: 4:10-State Track 2014/Mile: Sea Level-Adidas Grand Prix-4:07

3200:Alititude(~4500ft): 8:57.99-State Track 2014-2 Mile:8:53 at Brooks PR Invitational

5K: New Balance Indoor Nationals(2014) - 14:24

10K:USA Junior Track Championships (2014)-31:01

15K: Blacksmith Fork Freedom Run (aided) 48:10(2013).

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness. 

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

    A mile warm up with a whole lot of people.  I was planning on taking this tempo, and my goal was 5:05 pace.  I think I ran 15:44, but I'm unsure.  My dad had me wear his GPS so I could make sure I didn't go too hard and race it, or too easy.  Kramer said that we should run as a pack the whole time, and then with 400m left it's anyone's game.  We started out, and everyone went out pretty fast, but they were still talking.  Everyone probably looked relaxed and like they were having fun, but me.  I was focused on going 5:05 pace, and I was 5:13 for the first mile, with everyone close behind.  After that I kept trying to increase the pace, and when the downhill came, it wasn't hard. I think our second mile was sub-5, and the pack developed.  It was Kramer, Rory, Andrew and me.  We stayed together, and with 400m to go, I told them, and Kramer and Rory ran away from Brewer and me.  I thought with 100m left, that there were prizes for only top 3, so I sped up just enough to beat Brewer. He wasn't registered and they didn't have prizes, so it my little kick didn't mean much.  Kramer won it, with Rory 2nd.  It was fun.  Everyone sounded like they felt it was pretty easy running in the pack, but me. It was fun though, not being competitive the whole race.  The garmin said 3.14, but those things usually are off on courses that have lots of turns and curves.  We cooled down atleast a mile afterward.  Good run, it was fun, and easier than running tempo by myself.

Do't worry too much about a Thanksgiving 5k Conner. You will be ready when it really counts!

Not technically a tempo run, with your 5K PR time a tempo run would be more like 16:15 pace. You've had 15 races in the last 4 months, I know not all of those were all out, but adding in your workouts you've taken a lot out of your tank. You've also put a lot into your tank, and you're young, but don't underestimate your need to race smart. At FL West all you need to do is qualify, which won't necessarily be easy, but very doable. That race is just for your own confidence, you finish where you feel you need to to do the best at Nationals. You have a good outlook because you're always looking ahead. Enjoy where you are and understand that mentally and physically you have many more progressions to make.

I won't Murphy, and Glory in Long Run, my coach has it going more off of workouts and my 1600m/3200m times for my tempo. Also, I agree that I shouldn't underestimate the need to race smart, it can be that 10 seconds from 3rd place at FootLocker West, to 11th place.
