Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Total Distance

Good race today.  Warmed up with some of the freshman and Trevor.  Then warmed up a little before going with the team.  I felt decent, but not as good as I've felt before.  Did a few strides, and when our team lined up, they said we could get into the boxes that weren't being used.  All the ones to the right were empty, so we had 6 of 7 on the line, while most other teams had 2.

I got out well, and just looked around to find Elijah and Tanner.  I got a little behind Elijah and just sat for a while.  Tanner, Elijah and I were running side by side by side and it sounded like Elijah said he was sick.  The pace felt pretty easy.  I overshot a U-turn and spun out in a funny way. Pretty sure everyone was laughing.  After hearing, or not hearing(no one admitted to it later when I asked them. Oh well), someone saying they were sick, I thought that's why the pace felt so easy, so I took the lead and kept it.  I felt great, so I thought the pace was slow.  I hit the beach(it wasn't slow. Mile 1:4:39) and ran on the water area, even though it was farther the sand was more packed down.  I could see someone in my peripheral vision, so I kept the pace quick.  I was in the lead until the first hill. I really pushed up it, but Elijah passed me here. As soon as we hit the downhill I made a move and passed him.  I kept the lead from here on out.  I hit 1.5 miles and I felt good still. At the start of the second loop I could hear Tanner.  I overshot the U-turn and spun out again, but it wasn't as bad this time.  I just kept pushing the pace.  We were about 9:36 at two miles, so I sped up after. We hit the beach the second time and I jumped quickly to the left.  Well, my shorts caught the poll that held the flags that directed the course, but quickly slid off(not my body, the pole.  It They stayed on my body. Sorry for the mistake earlier). Whoops, someone might've seen a little too much of me. I kept pushing on the beach and heard someone say to Tanner, "He's only 3 seconds ahead of you, you can catch him" so I quickened my pace. The hill was slow the second time.  I kept my sights ahead for most of it, and just kept running.  I crossed the finish line in 14:51.  2 seconds off the course record, and 4 ahead of Tanner. After I cooled down with my team and Chuk Mitchell from UVU/Herriman.  It was good to catch up with Chuk.  My team didn't have that good of a team race, our 3rd runner lost his shoe, but it was a good experience for us.

4.5 miles with Connor McMillan and Elijah in Provo, on my visit to BYU.  It was a little sketchy part of Provo, but it was fun.

Great race, it was fun watching and cheering you on. You ran well and a smart race. You are on a roll and I hope you continue to have great success through the rest of the season.

The kids from my son's team (IF) were VERY impressed with you guys and amazed to watch you run. An inspiration to them. They are familiar with Elijah (he has run many of the races they have been in this season) but I told them all to watch out for you! I tell my son to check your blog so he can look for ideas and inspiration (he had a bad race, partially due to a teammate causing him an injury).

Sketchy part of Provo?

Yeah, pretty decent race!

Big win, Conner!

You might have gotten the CR if you could have kept your shorts on! :-)

Great race, Conner!

There are some great photos of you on mile split.

They must have been taken before you lost your shorts..:)

Thanks Jeff and Murphy, the sketchy part of provo was supposedly the one street with all the bars and stuff. There was a drunk guy trying to run with us and thought he was hilarious. Jake and Mark, sorry, I meant they stayed on, but were lifted for a little bit before I twisted to keep them on. I made a mistake in the report, hahaha. I probably should've read the report before I posted it.
