Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

I talked to coach before my workout and got some track workouts I'll do these next two weeks before Simplot.  Then I went on a treadmill and did a 2.5 tempo run at an average of 5:13 pace with the last mile being 5:04.  I feel great that I'm doing these workouts and not hurting a ton, but it must be that the treadmill isn't the same.  I did have a incline 1.5-2% for the whole time, but there is still something wrong with it.  After I did 1.5 miles easy with Ethan on the indoor "track" then 1.5 on the treadmill at 5:10 pace, then 1.5 on the "track" then 1 last mile on a treadmill at 5:00 min. mile pace for a half mile then an easy last half mile.

Good job getting in what you can lately Conner. Not an easy winter for faster workouts outside! But just stay at it, and then go tear it up at Simplot!

Conner,

Hi. I am not sure about treadmills myself. They are off from a splits standpoint because of the lacking air resistance and a host of other reasons perhaps. But google it. I think I read somewhere that if you have an incline of 1 percent, you then can consider the treadmill report to be accurate. But it was a while ago I read that. At any rate, you had it at 1.5 to two percent today. Myself, the weather has not been so bad in CT where I have been forced to use a treadmill yet! Hope all is well with you, Dad and your sister. Talk to you soon.
