Okay y'all...I've been away at the US National Whitewater Center for the last couple of days. It was marvelous fun!
If you're ever near Charlotte, or just need an excuse to visit Charlotte, then you must go :-)
We went whitewater rafting (six one-hour long trips on the water), kayaked on the Catawba River, rock climbed, zip-lined, mountain biked, mega-jumped (40 foot drop), and confidence coursed on the high-wire. I didn't run at all, except for the sprint I did from the confidence course to the rafting place so we didn't miss our trip time. We got caught behind a cute little lady that was terrified of heights and took 30 minutes to finish a 10 minute course. It was probably 1/3 of a mile, but I was booking it down the mountain side to get there on time. I was a bit terrified of the mountain biking trails. They were steeper and had a lot more trees than I'd imagined. But after I got over my initial fears, I really, really, loved it. WAY more fun than riding on the roads!!! Took me back to my days in spinning class.
I am sore in so many places, but it feels rewarding, and was really worth it. I'd love to go back sometime and take my kids. But this was a nice get away for just the MR and me.
It'll be back to running for me on Monday. Until then, here's a couple of pix from the adventure.
