This morning I met up with the Trail Runners Club that I used to run with every week during '98 and '99 when I lived in Los Angeles. I was glad to be able to have the chance to be down there this weekend in particular because the group was running one of my favorite routes, the Ray Miller Trail. The meeting point is about 15 miles north of Malibu, not too far from the Ventura County Line. The trailhead is directly across the road from the PCH. We ran the route that takes us up the Guadalasca trail, down to Wood Canyon and then finishing on the Ray Miller Trail itself. It's spectacular. Huge views of the Santa Monica Mountains on the way out and huge views of the Pacific Ocean on the way back. I felt pretty good coming from 4000' to run at sea level, which was good because there are some substantial climbs.
