Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

At the gym. 9:13 for 11, 7:41 for 1. Saw part of Rocky for the first time, then the first bit of Pink Panther. Then did the v-crunch machine and fake pullups and fake dips.

Eric's on a trail run and thought he might finish at the same time I did, so I drove up toward where I thought he might be coming out of the mountain. I didn't find him, but I saw these two girls doing a trail run and felt like a bum for doing all of my miles on a treadmill. But then I figured that I am where I am and there's no sense in trying to compare myself to people who probably have completely different lives and backgrounds than I do.

*Note - Eric called from his sister's house while I was typing this. He had gotten lost on the trail. :)

Thank you for rescuing me. I'm glad you had a good run too.

Jun - Yeah. I'm glad that so far he's never gotten *really* lost.

Thanks Allie.

Eric - Any time.

Good job having the sense to resist comparing yourself to others. Sounds like an excellent workout!!!

Glad Eric eventually found his way out. I've had a few of those calls to come and pick up Aaron and it sometimes startles me a bit. One time his friend called me to report that Aaron had endoed on his road bike going 40+ mph around a curve, snapping his clavicle in half on the side of the mountain. We were feeling very grateful the mountain had stopped him and not an oncoming car. Mountain running is a little less precarious than road biking though.

Thanks Nan. And I really liked what you said about racing with the other elites - "Its been a long journey for them to get where they are today, and I'm just a little earlier on in mine."

I agree about mountain running. I worry about Eric a lot less when he's out for a run than when he's out for a road ride.
