Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

A month or so ago we had a few nights where the carbon monoxide detector went off at about 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. We opened the window and it stopped chirping, so since then we've slept with the window open. But last night was a little colder, so we slept with the window closed. Sure enough, a little before 3:00 the alarm went off. We opened the window and called the non-emergency police/fire number, and a little while later 4 or 5 fire/rescue guys were wandering around checking stuff. Everything was fine, so we're going to get a new detector and see what happens. When 5:00 came, I decided I'd do my run in the evening instead. Then when 6:00 came, I decided that really I *did* want to run in the morning, and I'd just drive to work instead of taking the 6:30 bus. And it was a great morning! I even got to drop Eric off at school (so domestic), and leaving at 8:30 meant that I missed most of the commuter traffic. But now I have to leave at 5:30 instead of 3:30, so I guess I'll find out if it was worth it.

Hello night of no sleep. Wow. That sucks. Sounds like the workout was a success though.

Don't you guys have a race on Saturday? Kill it!!!

So was it worth it? If you ever drive again let me know and we can meet up. Good luck Saturday!

Yeah, that false alarm really sucked. But other than that it was a pretty good morning :)

Thanks Jun and Melody. The drive home was pretty bad because of that spot of construction crud through Lehi and American Fork. But I like the drive in better than being on the bus, though, so I think I'll keep doing it next week.
