Today's run was horrible.  Why can't I learn to go before I go?  I seriously thought about stopping at Wal Mart, and I totally should have.  I was cruising along trying to find that perfect rhythm where I could relax all my muscles except for a certain few.  Then when I reached mile 5 I had the brilliant idea to speed up so I could get home faster.  That loosened a certain muscle group I had been concentrating on, which then lead me to having to come to a complete stop and regain my composure.  Too much egg nog.

Time - 45:32 (avg. pace 8:15)

Splits - 8:18, 8:06, 8:19, 8:22, 8:16, 4:11 for 0.53 (7:57 avg.)

been there. done that. on a busy highway. in broad daylight. people stared.

i feel your pain (and have had to sacrifice gloves/socks to "the cause" mid-run) - look at it as the mark of a truly hard-core runner...

From Nan Kennard on Tue, Dec 01, 2009 at 15:45:14 from 174.51.250.151

Hahaha. You guys are so dramatic. I "go" at least once a week when I'm out on a run. Its just part of being a long distance runner. Find a bush or tree and some abundant weeds for TP and if someone sees you, pretend like you don't notice. Its not worth the bowel pain it causes to "hold it."

From Nan Kennard on Tue, Dec 01, 2009 at 15:46:17 from 174.51.250.151

Oh, and make sure the weeds aren't poison ivy. My teammate made that mistake once. Not fun.

Nan - I was trying to be conspicuous. How did you know what I was talking about?

Nevels - Oh there were marks. If you know what I mean. (Once again, being conspicuous for Nan's sake.)

Nan that is so funny ouch to poison Ivy, I am the same as Nan, at least once a week I get caught out and for no reason at all, I was ok on my long run today but last week I wasnt and it was only a 9miler, its just runners trots get used to it LOL

I did get seriously caught to the point I couldnt go anywere and had to walk slowly then jog then walk slowly home in serious pain not nice .

Egg nog -- elixir of the nogs.

Wow. Going numero dos during a run is one of the things I am most afraid of. So afraid, in fact, that I do my best to clear the pipes before I run. I did not know so many did the squat during their runs! Perhaps one of these days I will step out in courage and do the same.

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Dec 01, 2009 at 23:44:54 from 205.172.12.229

Oh, and um, if someone perchance happens to see you could you get arrested or fined?

I had a similar prairie dog issue during my last 5k, but thought I should spare my blog fans from my personal issues :) It's nice to know that you hold nothing back from us Burt, well thankfully almost nothing...

Have you seen the movie where that term came from? It's one of my favorites.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 02, 2009 at 12:52:18 from 12.231.112.98

Rat Race. Actually, to me that was the only funny part, because it seemed that all the other funny parts were shown in the previews.
