Cool pics!

From Camille on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 00:40:23

Whatever... :o) That tells you how fast my short legs have to go to keep up with all you tall people.

From Camille on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 00:41:20

I have to add... it looks like your daughter (Happy) may be as tall as me. I didn't realise that while I was talking with her, but lookin at these pictures.... hmmm

From Kelli on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 14:53:46

Camille, you are tiny! You look like you are his daughter!

From Burt on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 15:01:10

That's what I'm talking about, Kelli!

From Kelli on Mon, Feb 02, 2009 at 15:05:10

And you look great, too, BURT.

From Lucia on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 08:32:11

So how tall are both of you guys? Tall or short you both look awesome! And your new profile photo is cool too, you're flying! And needless to say your kids are adorable!

From Camille on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 10:21:06

Burt... I think Kelli just called you an old man. :o)

(Thanks Kelli... I don't mind being tiny)

From Burt on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 10:52:02

She did use the word great, as in great grandfather.

Rocket - I am 6' 3/4". Camille is 3'1".

From Burt on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 10:54:44

There's my picture. It was still showing up as my old picture. Then I hit refresh and it worked. I put that one up because I think it's so funny how everyone takes the sample picture with the photo company's name across it and uses it as their profile pic. :)

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 15:11:37

That is a GREAT new picture, even if you are making fun of everyone!

And thanks for the laughs, Burt, you crack me up every day!!

So, what kind of weather am I looking at for Del Sol? I will be running in the middle of then night once and in the afternoon twice, but I am thinking your temperatures will still seem warm to me. Help me out here! We should also get together sometime while we are there---I would love to meet you and Camille (and so would Walter, i am sure!)

From Burt on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 16:36:50

The weather should be good. You'll want to stay warm at night, but you should be fine to run in something light. I highly recommend the use of sunscreen. It will warm up. I got a sunburn my first day when I ran at 2pm. Then I had that to worry about that the rest of the time. It probably won't get as hot as Wasatch Back in mid day just because of the time of year.

It would be fun to get together. What are your plans? How long are you in town? We could plan to meet up at a major exchange point.

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 16:45:06

We will be staying in Phoenix from 2/26 until 3/1. How far is Phoenix from you guys (I DO NOT know AZ at all).

So, what do you mean by keeping it light at night? Shorts and long sleeves? Pants?

From Burt on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 16:57:50

I'm probably about 50 minutes outside of Phoenix. Camille, about half an hour.

I'm pretty warm blooded, I guess you could say. I warm up really quick once I start running. So I'm just going to wear a long sleeve shirt and shorts. I might recommend pants for other people. But definetely while you're not running, you want to be bundled up in pants and a jacket or sweats.

From Camille on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 17:57:58

Kelli - where in Phoenix are you staying? (it will give me a better idea of how far away you will be). I'm going to be running leg 8, and plan in wearing my short sleeves for all three runs. I will pack a light long sleeve shirt just in case, but I will most likely not wear it. I hope that helps.

And Burt... I'm 3'2"... get it right. Good things come in small packages. :o)

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 19:10:57

I run in shorts and long sleeves in 40 degrees in Utah, so I should be okay!

I have no clue where my sister lives. I have never been there! She used to live in Glendale, now she lives 15 minutes from her old house. So, she is in Phoenix close to Glendale. I am sure that does not help at all!!!

I am now leg 7! What is your start time?

From Burt on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 19:14:06

Glendale? That's west side. Add another half hour to what I told you. We start at 10am. One hour after you. How did you get such an early start with such speedsters on your team?

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 19:18:00

We only have Walter that is fast! The rest of us are slow (well, Scott is fast, too, when he is not being stupid and overtraining). I think our avg pace for our entire team is 8:30.

My sister lives on the West side, huh? (West side is BAD in Utah---it is where I live.) I know she lives pretty close to the freeway exit, like 5 minutes. I can get her address and google it!

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 19:54:58

Okay, I google mapped it and she is right by Black Canyon Freeway and the Granite Reef Aqueduct. Based on the pictures, it looks like she lives in the middle of nowhere! She did say her backyard was desert for miles!!! Does that help?

From Burt on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 21:25:46

Yeah that's pretty far away. That's about the midway point of the race. Do a google map search on Queen Creek and you'll see how far away I live. :(

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 21:41:05

Well, BUMMER!!! I guess we will have to hunt you down at the race. Do you go all crazy and decorate your cars and wear costumes (just makes you easier to spot)???

From Camille on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 21:42:29

We will be decorating the van... but I hadn't concidered a costume. Are you wearing a costume?

What is the name of your team again?

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 22:14:21

No, we are lame! We are part of a company that is running (we are the other part, the non-company part) so we are not exciting at all.

However, the 27th is my Birthday, so i think we need to decorate my suburban for MY 35th!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK?

From Burt on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 11:34:56

I think your teammates would be overjoyed to cater to you. Make sure you eat lots of cake and ice cream.

From Camille on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 12:01:21

Oh... new reason to bake a cake. Kelli... the race ends in Mesa, you wouldn't be too far away from my house. Just a thought.

From Kelli on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 13:25:12

There ya go, birthday cake at the finish line. the 28th is actually Emma's birthday, she will be 4!

From James W on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 16:37:10

I like the new pic on your blog, Burt - looks more like you now. I am also planning on just wearing short sleeve technical tees and shorts for my legs, and will consider a long sleeve just in case. It should be a fair amount warmer at night 3 weeks from now than it is right now. Low temps around 50 degrees, I would think. Have we decided on a design or anything for team t-shirts?

From Burt on Wed, Feb 04, 2009 at 16:42:58

No, but that would make a good topic of discussion for Sat. morning. Remind us then. Thanks.
