Rest today.

These pictures are for Bonnie so she'll know how harmless the critters here in AZ are.

AJ next to a fuzzy little tarantula.

The cute little Palo Verde Beetle.  Yes, that is my hand.

A bullsnake we caught in front of our house.  I like how it curls around my old rootbeer and milkshake gut.

Nothing to be afraid of, Bonnie!

Good luck on your race tomorrow! Can't wait to read the report.

Burt, did you get the email about the packet pickup? Don't know if you want to drive all the way into north phoenix to pick up your bib today or not, but I am still planning on just picking mine up tomorrow morning. Looks like the weather is going to be absolutely perfect for tomorrow.

From RivertonPaul on Fri, May 22, 2009 at 13:10:56 from 67.42.27.114

Good luck. You will do great.

Thanks everyone. I'm as ready as I'm gonna be.

James - I don't feel like going into Phoenix either. Tomorrow morning will be fine for me. See you at 6:15.

Have a great race tomorrow, Burt. From your picture, it looks like you've lost some weight since starting to run again. Good job!

From Steve P on Fri, May 22, 2009 at 23:46:12 from 66.60.123.236

I didn't mean that in a negative way, by the way. I could say the same thing about myself. :)

OHHHHHH WOW!! HOLY ROOT BEER FLOAT! I can't believe you took those! Thanks for the hibbie jibbies.

Thanks Burt, I feel much safer inside my house now.

By the way, I have been thinking about you guys. I don't know what you are thinking in terms of dogs ... but this guy who runs the doggie daycare (yes, I know ...) has a dog that is looking for a good home. She (I think it is a she) is on the smaller side (40 lbs) a cattle dog mix. Very very sweet, I fell in love with her. I was going to try to switch her with my "trouble" dog ... but Jay (the owner) had dog sat Jake while we were in Eugene and wouldn't go for the switch ;-). I really like this dog, and she needs a good home.

Finally Bonnie! I dedicated a whole blog to you and you didn't comment. I was just about to send you a nasty email. LOL.

As far as the dog goes, send me a picture of it. Is she a barker? The only reason I got the other dog is because I've received complaints from my neighbors that Ginger barks too much. (She doesn't really. It's the dog across the way.) And all she wants to do is play. So I thought that if she had a playmate, she wouldn't bark at the kids out on the golf course as much (on the rare occasions that she does.) And I hate pit bulls. If it's a pit bull, no deal.

sorry it took me so long Burt to post to your blog -- but I was touched when I finally saw it (though the tiniest bit grossed out - especially with the spider and the beetle, snakes I don't seem to mind as much).

this dog doesn't bark, I have a "barker" too, and that is why I fell in love with this dog. I will get a picture for you Tuesday or Wednesday. She is a cattle dog (kind of looks like "hootch" on the front page here:

http://www.cattledog.com/rescue/

More later, happy Sunday. I will have to let you know the next time we come up to your side of Arizona ... maybe we can get a run or bike ride in.
