Like the wise poet C. Dion once said, "It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now."  I felt pretty good today.  Almost pain free.  It was 84 degrees out and I had Captain Insano sweat levels.  My average pace was 8:28.

AM Ride

Distance -  17.47 miles

Time - 1:06:29

Avg. Speed - 15.8 mph

Max. Speed - 20.9 mph

Temp - 88

It was a real nice ride to work today.  But towards the end I was wishing I was done.  I stay relatively cool while I'm in motion, but when I have to stop at a stop light, it's like baking in an oven.  And it's only gonna get hotter.

PM Ride

Distance -  17.47 miles

Time - ??? (Forgot to start my Garmin until about a mile into it.)

Avg. Speed - ??? mph (Forgot to stop my Garmin when I got home.)

Max. Speed - 24.2 mph

Temp - 103

Even though it was hot, the first 2/3 of the ride was very enjoyable.  The last 1/3 was against the wind.

I can't imagine running or biking in that heat. I was in St. George last weekend and the very thought made me crazy.

Nice workout!!

You are under 200 lbs now!! How much have you lost? Seems to me it was quite a bit.

From Rhett on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 13:29:49 from 74.32.221.35

Running and biking all in one morning. You're doing great.

From Eric Day on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 13:37:47 from 189.192.216.251

Ditto on doing great, running & biking. Life is good.

From Burt on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 14:41:41 from 68.76.197.194

Leslie - I've lost about 55 lbs. I was down to 192 a couple of months ago, but then Easter came along, and I've yet to recover. LOL.

Rhett - My legs are a little sorer than usual.

Eric - ditto your ditto. Life is good.

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 16:12:06 from 71.219.76.64

That would be due to the INSANO temps.

From Burt on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 16:15:18 from 68.76.197.194

Oh, I'm sure it will be over 100 when I ride my bike home this afternoon. Don't worry your pretty little head none over that.

From Burt on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 16:18:00 from 68.76.197.194

Oh, and I forgot my cell phone today. So if I get a flat, it's gonna SUCK!! That's right, all caps.

From Rhett on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 16:35:41 from 74.32.221.35

I'm betting it will be cloer to 110 than 100 when you ride home this evening. They are predicting monsoon rains though so maybe you will get rained on.

From Teena on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 16:41:35 from 67.177.20.13

Don't know how you all stand that kind of heat!!! Absolutely crazy I tell you!!!

Nice job Burt!

From Burt on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 16:42:21 from 68.76.197.194

(Burt immediately curses Rhett's name, walks over to the window, and checks for storm clouds. Nothing yet. He checks the current temperature : 98. Should rise a few degrees as the hottest hours of the day are between 2pm and 4pm.)

Sorry for shooting the messenger Rhett.

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 17:23:49 from 71.219.76.64

Geez Louise! Won't the rain evaporate before it even hits the ground?

From Lily on Tue, Jun 30, 2009 at 22:27:44 from 160.7.232.225

nice pace!

From sam Dean-Howard on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 03:11:44 from 90.201.147.84

nice pace Burt!

From kungfublonde on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 03:48:32 from 64.203.113.50

Captain Insano? Time for that hug!

From Lyns on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 10:06:38 from 75.162.104.51

103 degrees - I would throw up for sure!

From Burt on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 12:13:11 from 68.76.197.194

Rachel - all you have to do is mention how sweaty I am after a run, and you automatically get one.

Lyns, yes you would. Thank you. LOL.

From Kelli on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 12:15:44 from 71.219.76.64

103? That is flat out insane. Can you hook a little AC unit to your bike?

From Merri on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 15:05:58 from 207.88.76.69

think of it this way, no cell phone = no bruises on the legs. :)

From Leandra on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 15:45:09 from 67.41.188.195

And who needs water bottles in 103 degrees? Ditch those and you'll be bruise free in no time.

From Kelli on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 15:45:46 from 71.219.76.64

Carry Otter Pops or something.

From Merri on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 15:53:59 from 207.88.76.69

maybe put your work clothes in the freezer the night before biking to work.

From Leandra on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 16:00:29 from 67.41.188.195

Better yet, maybe you should just sleep in the freezer.

From Burt on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 16:05:47 from 68.76.197.194

Maybe I should just add a little more iron to my diet for the bruising. I'm sure I can find plenty of meat in the freezer for a midnight snack. I may even be using it for a pillow.

And how in the world have I put the exact same mileage on both pairs of my shoes so far? I can assure you it was only by chance. That's amazing. AMAZING!! (It's the little things in life...)

From Bonnie on Wed, Jul 01, 2009 at 22:02:24 from 75.164.32.215

That Kelli - because of her I now have a freezer full of popsicles!! They are yummy though Kelli!

From sam Dean-Howard on Thu, Jul 02, 2009 at 07:31:56 from 78.32.130.9

Burt Dude, mileage on both shoes is amazingly funny how cool LOL

I always end up with a fav pair, and its the blue one's for me.

Try soaking a tshirt in water then freezing for your bike or run to keep cool, apparently it works :-)

From Kelli on Thu, Jul 02, 2009 at 10:16:44 from 71.219.89.21

The only way to survive a summer is with posicles! And they make so many nummy flavors!!! If I lived in AZ I would have to have them shipped in by the case load!

From sam Dean-Howard on Fri, Jul 03, 2009 at 17:53:58 from 90.208.239.159

Hey Dude you not training ?? :-)
