I finally got David Hasselhoff to shave FRB into his chest hair.  Don't ask me how.

********************************************

Another long Thursday run!  I drove to a local supermarket and parked my vehicle.  Then I got out, made like I was going to walk inside, turned and walked out to the street, stretched a little, and took off home.

Time: 1:31:19 (avg. pace 8:49)

Splits:

1 mile - 7:43

2 mile - 7:45

3 mile - 8:06

4 mile - 8:24

5 mile - 8:39

6 mile - 8:52

7 mile - 9:09

8 mile - 9:18

9 mile - 9:40

10 mile - 9:54

0.36 mile - 3:50 (10:31 avg.)

That last mile  and a half was killer.  Serious lack of feul.  I started having doubts after 6 miles, but then I thought, "If I have my wife come get me, I'll probably be able to run another 2 miles before she even gets to me.  Then I'll only have 2 miles to go, and that will be lame."  I decided to tough it out.  When I got to where I had about 2.6 miles to go I got excited and knew I could make it.  I'm pretty sore right now and don't have much of an appetite for the delicious salmon and rice dinner my wonderful wife cooked.  She's the best.  (I need to let her know there's a reason I'm not eating, and it has nothing to do with her cooking.)  ((She does cook really well on the serious side.))

Why do we blog our runs?  For prosperity?  To keep track of our training?  Are we social butterflies?  Are there stories to be told, memories to keep?  The most memorable part about tonight's run was seeing this thing lying along the side of the road.  It was a familiar shape, and I saw it while I was driving this morning, too.  I thought, "It can't be that."  I made up my mind that it was a rusty old trailer hitch.  But as I ran by it this evening, it was unmistakable.  While I can't say what it was, because this is a family safe site, I can say that I have never seen one in real life.  It was terrifying.  That's all for now.

Burt, it is your civic duty to go back and throw the rusty trailer hitch away. Go do it before some kid sees it!

From Michelle N. on Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 13:00:10 from 75.162.244.89

Oh my!!! That is funny. I wonder why it was on the side of the road? Don't want to know. Great running! Your miles are super lately.

Oh my that is sooooo funny! I used to loooove his TV series... In Argentina it was called "El Auto Fantastico"

Nice running!

Sick Burt ... that is all I can say.

From James W on Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 17:07:57 from 12.151.72.1

For the life of me, I can't figure out what you are referring to on the side of the road. Am I just that naive? BTW, the picture of the "hoff" - just sick and wrong. Nice job on gutting out the long run, though.

From Kelli on Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 20:57:06 from 71.219.76.202

Okay, James, thanks for not making me feel dumb as I have absolutely no clue myself. I have a very clean, untainted mind and, therefore, can never figure this things out unless they are spelled out to me.

Great run Mr Burt. You are awesome. But why did you fake like you were going grocery shopping? Who cares if you park there and go run? Maybe you need to park at a Wal Mart, they do not care WHO or WHAT parks in there parking lot.

And when you figure out why we BLOG, let me know. I am baffled. I used to do it to complain, but since my resolution to NOT complain, i have no clue why I bother!

Have a great weekend and tell Mr Hasslehoff he rules!

From Kelli on Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 20:58:05 from 71.219.76.202

Oh, and next time please make yourself run just .14 more for the sake of the your OCD blog reader. I can not handle it! (Was my math right there?)

From Kelli on Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 21:03:14 from 71.219.76.202

Okay, sorry, I am back again. I just went back to read all of your posts for the year to check on something. HOLY CRUD, you have lost a lot of weight! 26 pounds since January----you ROCK! I can not make my lazy self lose a pound, and you have lost 26. YOU ARE SO COOL AND SO MY HERO. Great job, Burt.

And I saw some pictures I had missed. You have cute kids! I love the ones of you and your daughter stretching by the van, love it.

Okay, I think I am NOW done. This is what happens when I am bored on a Friday night because my husband neglected date night.

Don't hassle the Hoff.

From Burt on Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 00:25:26 from 98.167.151.26

Mike - I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. In fact, ...nevermind.

Michelle - your guess is as good as mine.

Rocket - who doesn't love Knight Rider?

Bonnie - I know. This post started out gross and ended up sick.

Adonnis - Best you remain in your naivity.

Kelli - I had my stereo stolen at Applebee's. And it was date night. Aren't we encouraged to date? So maybe it's a good thing Scott didn't take you out. Good job on the math for the even run, but I was at 222 Jan. 1st. Per this entry I'm 192. That's 30 lbs. But as long as you keep feeding my ego, your math skills aren't important.

AZDM - his best role was The SpongeBob SquarePants movie.

So what if there is video of him drunk trying to eat a samich or that he attacked some chandelier in a hotel. He practically single-handedly brought down the Berlin wall.

From Burt on Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 11:41:20 from 98.167.151.26

You're right. He's such a humanitarian. You really have to overlook the little things. Drunken rampages in front of his kids pale in comparison to what he has done for society.

From Kelli on Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 12:31:42 from 71.219.76.202

I guess I did not go back far enough in January, the first January post I saw said 218 (so my math was right, I just looked at the wrong number). WOW, 30 pounds! That is more than 10 pounds a month! YOU are a superstar for sure. What are you trying to get to and HOW do you get it to keep coming off? Let me guess, you do not eat brownies when you run, you just give them to other people?!?

I missed the chandelier episode, but the guy is WEIRD. He is a judge on some reality show and he is so out there, even more than Paula Abdul!

LOL holy shmoly!

From Lyns on Mon, Jun 29, 2009 at 16:51:37 from 75.162.104.51

ha ha you are in with all the celebs Burt! BTW- nice work on the 10 mile run.

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Apr 08, 2010 at 01:23:55 from 75.165.253.111

How did I miss this post? This may be the best blog in the history of FRB. HA!!! That picture is just great.

Hey Burt, I think I know what you saw out there, and if I am right I ran into one of those sitting next to a payphone (do they have payphones anymore?) while I was a missionary in Florida. SO GROSS! I can't even begin to imagine how or why it was there. The trailer hitch tipped me off.
