Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Slow day, worked from home part of the day.  1 hour on the nordic trak, upper body weights. I have been at the weights, every other day for two months, not trying to gain much bulk.  I am slowly moving up the weight and added another 5 lbs to the bench press.  First set 12 reps and second set 8 reps.

Knee status:  I have decided to take a few weeks off running and see if the knee will get more stable.  One thing I have noticed, not running is helping reduce the pain when walking.  No plan to give up running.  I will start back in a few weeks and work up to two days a week.

blogger note, I have lost touch with what is happening with some of the bloggers with being busy at work and not running much.  Sylvie says I look in great shape, no where my age of 58.

I am all croxxed up cross training,  The old days in the gym:  I arrived at my work fitness center, a lady, Dona was on my favorite treadmill.  In the past, I would always beat her to this treadmill, if someone got on a treadmill next to me, it was a game to stay on the treadmill longer than they did.  This often lead to many extra miles.  Today, Dona was on the treadmill before I arrived, did my hour on the Excercise bike, 22.13 miles, and Dona was still running.  Darn, things have sure change quickly.

Park Centre Spin class this morning.  Good effort 65 minutes, short intervals today.  1 hour Nordic trak, upper body weights.

Kinda of a boring day so far, raked leaves, took out the garbage, played with the neighbor dog and watched ESPN Mark May and Lou Holtz say Utah was over rated, yada, yada, yada.  I am so tired of ESPN commentors.   My day will pick up when Sylvie gets home.

*Note about the spin class, an older Please follow Fast Running Blog policy regarding vulgar language than me showed up today.  The class is a real mix:  The instructor is  a hard core biker chick, her friend another hard core biker chick, 3 young out of shape high school girls, 3 out of shape older ladies, 1 guy who had a marathon shirt and another guy who had never been on a spin bike.  The instructer spent half the class getting the 3 young girls and the guy going.  I'm glad a showed early or it would have been a crappy workout.

Spin bike, 60 minutes, half standing jog, half seated.  Nice day outside.  Hopefully, go for a bike ride later today or a short run.  Sylvie has many things on her honey dew list today.

My oldest daughter had a baby shower today, so, I rode 10 miles on the bike, beautiful afternoon.  I seen DC and his daughter running and said hi.   Nice to get outside for a workout.
