Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Body Be Good Miles - Nice to run with no ice and warmer temps.  No problems from the race yesterday, just a little recovery today.  Ran with Rob and Gil for 3 miles (they were running 18) and then the rest on my own.  I am trying to decide what workout to do on tuesday, blacksheep or do a 5 or 6 mile tempo on my own, leaning towards the hill repeats around sugarhouse park with blacksheep, need the hill work.

Body Be Good Miles, nice morning for a run, is there ever a bad morning for a run?, heck no.  Nice comments on the race from several bloggers, thanks for the support.  My top running partner, S of BS, is having sciatica type problems, tough weekend.

By the way, caught two young boys, taggers, with spray cans this morning and scared them off.  It looked like they were getting ready to tag the trail underpass at 4800 so. They likely did not expect anyone at 4:45 to be on the parkway.

Lunch time run, the enforcer, 3 easy miles looking for trouble makers on treadmills.

Body Getter Stronger Miles - Ran with Harry and Colleen, 6 laps around sugarhouse park pushing the hills.  It was nice to get back to running some hills, darn tough.  We are going to try and do this every week possible.

Lunch Time, 2 miles treadmill, stretching, gabbing, yada yada yada.

Body Be Good Miles - what a nice morning to run, took the trail south today, first time going south 5 miles since last November.  The darn trail just has not been good for running with the snow and ice.   If I had time, would have added a few more miles.  My legs were not tired today, means, I did not run the hills hard enough yesterday, will make adjustments next week.

After work 2 miles, wore my lead shoes.

Hey, hey, hey, its a yucky day.  Well, one step outside, the air tasted like Geneva Steel.  The treadmill and IPOD were my running buddies today.  The run started out pretty shakey with quads feeling it from the hills on  tuesday.  Legs finally started coming around after 6 or 7 miles.  8 minute miles for 9 miles with the last mile at 7 min mile.  I am taking Vanilla Ice off and my ipod, tired of that darn song.  Willey Nelson is also getting trashed.

Blog traffic has slowed down, dow, do, d, ....

Changed my mind, was not going to call this a race, pin on a number, it is a race, Ran the Striders 10K today, It was a good rac today with great weather.  Ran the first half about 22 minute 5k, not on my game today (legs beat up from the 15K last week and hill work), effort is what counts.   The second half was kind of a grinder up the hills.  The toughest hill, seemed like a mile long with a steep grade most of the way, passed about 20 runners this mile and had one pass me back before the finish.   Considering how trashed my legs were before the race, happy with the effort.  Me and Sylvie are getting a massage today, 20 miles tomorrow, hills on tuesday and then taper for Moab next saturday.

By the way, met Dee today as he passed me after we crested the first big hill, he looked strong today.

Congrads to FRB, they kicked butt today at the striders 10K.
