Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

STG - maiden voyage on the zipps - did a loop of the IM couse up to Gunlock and around to Veyo, was going to do a second loop, the side winds coming down from Veyo with the traffic was just too scary, rode around half loop up to Gunlock and home, the winds were stilla blowing in the canyons, got a cramp in the left hamstring, need to get down some lava salts, happy with the ride, need to stay down in the aero position more, need to work on it, tough on the neck.  70 miles - the new 11/28 gear really made a big difference going up the wall.

Stay Kool, good luck to all the Spectum 10ks,

Last comment about biking, sounds easy, everyone can ride a bike, I would rather run a marathon than ride the 112 miles of the IM course, I would bet most would say the bike is the toughest, likely because of the tough bike course.

Thanks for the good luck wishes!

I have to agree on the course for the IM bike course! I've never done a century ride, but I think you can ride it 'easy' and coast along, but I know you won't! You'll be killing it the entire way! Biking isn't easy and keeping a good pace consistently for 4 hours isn't easy. You just lose the pounding from running, but otherwise is pretty equal in my mind.

Nice workout on the Zipps! We will have to chat bike stuff on Saturday, I need some pointers. I'm looking to invest some money...

Awesome job and on the new zipps. That is a tough bike course and was a tough run. But I think you will like the new changes. Can't wait to see you down there. Look for us at the T1 bike and run station #5 k. Oh what was your goal finish time??

I'd take a run over a tough bike ride any day. I think bikes are a great workout, but riding in a race position is uncomfortable while you're killing your legs for 100+ miles.

All the spinning you do, and it's still tough- means I'd be on the side of the road pushing my bike...and trying to run:-)

Devine - turtle wall time saturday?

Mark - thanks, will be looking for you, well, I just hope to finish, this is one heck of a course. I would guess that the bike is at least an hour longer than a flat course. Mark, what are your Tri plans this year?

QP - sore butt, sore back, sore neck, red neck, rudolph nose - what is not to like about the bike.
