Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Friday spin class, good workout.  This class is getting a little funner now I am getting to know a few regulars. As ususal, I am the oldest in the class, class age ranges from 16 to 57. 

Second half of the workout, 62 minutes on the Nordic trak, low impact, general cardio workout.   Bench press - set of 12 (heavy as I could lift, second set same weight 6 reps) Curls same as the bench press set, the two sets of side lifts (don't know the correct name)

I am going to try running again on Dec 1, two days a week,

Sylvie Report - ran 5 miles yesterday, she is generally healed from the fall except for her wrist.

"Cheer Up Sleepy Jeane" came on at Trader Joe's yesterday, and it made me think of your blog :)

My cross training today will include raking leaves and hopefully hanging cabinets.

Air Darkhorse, good to hear from you, work schedules can really cut into training time. I am sure your will be back and be the darkhorse at many races next year. DC told me a couple of months ago that you may have the most running talent in Utah. I will be looking forward to you name at the top of races.

KFB - Your blog is so fun to read. Chocolate is my trouble. Something kind of fun for cross training, acqua jogging in a lazy river. Many rec. centers now have lazy rivers, good way to maintain fitness while in recovery. I not sure if I will count leaves as cross training, I have a yard full also.

Speaking of lazy rivers, our youngest daughter, the one who's jumping over a hay bale in one of Rachel's blogs, ran laps and laps in one. This was before she could swim. She wasn't tall enough to have anything but her forhead clear the water. She had to jump to get a breath of air. She laughed the whole time.

Oh my gosh, I thought she was going to drown. That was at a water park in LA I think. She did these big bounding leaps so she could get a breath every time her head came up. And yes, she kept laughing and going back under with her mouth open. I wanted to make her stop but she was having so much fun, so I just had to walk around and around next to her, prepared to save her life at any moment...

p.s. Mike, I want to change gyms to try that aqua jogging thing. It sounda way better than swimming laps!

Alright, Brent! I am going to try to run at the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving only because I had already said I was going to and I am not one to break a promise (especially when it entails a fun run with my sister, one of my brothers, and my fiancee!). I just hope my achilles let me! I found a good quote about keeping the faith and trying harder in times where we want to quit. I'm beginning to think this spinning class is really a secret science experiment to spin back the wheels of time! Watch out Commando Brent is about to bust out on the running scene again in a big way!

KFB and Monte - Your positive vibes are great, kids are the best, they bring out the fun in us. We should have a duoathalon where we acqua jog and then run round jumping hay bales. We can learn alot from kids. Also, we will need your daughter's rools, submerge with every stride.
