5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

preblogging my PM run -- very early start this morning.  We are supposed to be finished at 2PM,  I worked it out with the hotel that I can go for my run after the meetings are over and shower in the gym here (even though I am already checked out).   What we do to get our runs in??

Very busy again today ... the reviews are intense this time.

Have a wonderful day bloggers.

Hang in there and try not to get too much stress. It's a killer, literally! :)

You really are dedicated to getting your runs in while traveling! I will use you for inspiration later this summer while I am traveling in France with my daughter and her boyfriend. I have warned them that my needs are simple: I don't speak French, so must be taken care of, and I need to run every day, somewhere.

traveling and running. Never an easy thing to do! You're doing great. Hope I can say the same...soon!

Auntieem...running in France! Ooo la, la! Now that sounds like fun!

are you doing an NIH review panel or something else? I love to run in DC when there for my NIH study section. Highlight of the meeting is getting out of the wretched room and clearing my head with a long hard run. and there are so many great places to run too in DC. too bad it is the muggy season now though.

You are a very dedicated runner.

I love balancing my running with work!

Scott, it was interesting it was indeed NIH -- NCI actually. We were reviewing SPOREs (large program project type applications). They took, on average, 4 hours to score (each). This was the first time these particular applications have fallen under the new page limitations and scoring system -- it seemed to be quite a challenge for many of us to "recalibrate" our internal scoring mechanism. Program had to keep reminding us, "the aim lacks scientific detail" is not a fair review comment any more ;-). I learned a lot, hopefully it will help with my upcoming resubmission (which will also be the first time these type of grants will be submitted under the new page limitations and scoring mechanism).
