10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

1 hour pool running (with very cool waterproof MP3 player case) + 1 hour water aerobics.

This made me quite hungry.  The women of the water aerobics class are growing on me.  Most of them are somewhere in their 60s, maybe 70s.  They travel, and are mostly from the east coast (at least 3 of the 6 that were there today were from New York City.  One of them was a journalist for the New York Times.  She said, "McCain was in town this week.  I ran into him in Starbucks and I shocked him, he said, 'Jan?' and I said, 'hello John'" ... ha ha ha ... very cool.  Another woman is going to send me a copy of her electronic journal from her trip to Brisbane last year, we are going in February and she knows some great places to see and eat ...

I am in a much better mood today than I have been most of the week, maybe it is 2 days in a row of more than an hours worth of exercise ;-).

Happy Friday Bloggers!

Good luck Auntieem, April, and MichelleL on your marathons this weekend!!

Fun, interesting people beside you can definitely be mood lifting as well. :) Glad you're able to listen to music in the pool now! I think Aaron has one of those waterproof cases around here somewhere...maybe I should dig it up.

glad you got the mp3 thing sorted out so that the pool running is more bearable. as for water aerobics, is it bad that i think that sounds really fun? it does. it sounds really fun.

btw, who is john mccain? i'll go ask KP...

Hey very cool Bon! I think that is neat chatting with people like that!

Shame shame on Allie! :p

ha ha ha ... I just spit mint tea all over my keyboard, very nice allie!!

Water aerobics is fun, that is why I keep going back. We use these floaty dumbbells underwater for upper body and all kinds of different feet kicks (round-the-world, egg-beater, frog, etc) for lower body and there are some super cool ab-workouts too. You can basically work as hard or as easy as you want - you can feel the resistance of the water and so if you concentrate you can make it pretty hard.

From Bonnie on Fri, Oct 08, 2010 at 20:19:51 from 128.196.228.134

oh Dan, it is ok ... allie is bad, but that is why we love her so.

KP and I are the same, just on the opposite sides of the political spectrum ;-)

I love listening to stories from people who have seen SO much! (well, I am "almost" one of those people, I have about 10 years to go ;-)).

From Dan on Fri, Oct 08, 2010 at 20:22:52 from 24.209.83.20

She can't be bad, this much I picked up on :) But now I am wonderin... am I on the same side of the political fence as you?! (hint- I would have liked to have met McCain)

From Bonnie on Fri, Oct 08, 2010 at 20:46:19 from 128.196.228.134

Dan, we are on the opposite sides. I am beginning to be more tolerant in my old age. I don't think I could marry a Republican, but I can socialize with them now ;-)

By the way, I would have liked to meet the "old McCain" I really detest the new one.

From Dan on Fri, Oct 08, 2010 at 20:55:07 from 24.209.83.20

Ah well so be it, I am not actually a Republican, but do vote that way since the guys I would vote for get like 1% of the vote.

Running makes stronger bonds than politics I say :)
