marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

After limping through another run, I finally am giving up ... I am taking tonight off (no 2nd run) and am not sure yet about tomorrow, but thinking I will take it off too.  I am just worried that after spending 24:53 (I timed it) literally limping before feeling I can run a smooth stride without screaming in pain is probably not doing the rest of my body any good either ... and then even when I am able to get a decent stride it hurts the whole time.  The thought of another 2 hours of pain tomorrow just did not sound fun.  We are flying into Tucson on Monday morning and then driving straight to John's house, he knew it was serious when my text said, "I am not running".   I decided that since training won't be starting for about 3 more weeks, the main thing would be to start healthy -- nothing says, "not a good marathon" than having problems before you even start to train ;-).

After my painful 8 miles I had a wonderful breakfast with Michelle, who needed to recover from an awesome training run with allie!!

At least I can enjoy the wedding tonight, not worrying about getting up early to run.  Although I would rather run.

Last nights rehearsal dinner was  more of a "BBQ party" than a rehearsal dinner, it was awesome to see all of our old friends again.  Steve (the groom) had written two songs (he plays guitar and piano) for Rosemary, one was about her, and the other was about getting married (sort of bluesy/ballad/ early country) -- very nice, it made her Dad cry.

Have a good weekend bloggers!

Sounds like you are having a fun time with friends. Sorry about the pain and injury, hopefully some time off and attention can alleviate the issues.

Travel safely home tomorrow!

Bon, I am happy to that you are having a great time with friends. I am sorry about the pain :( That has to be frustrating and I hope a little rest gets things back to where I know you want them to be.

Hey Bonnie! I'm always checking out your blog from time to time since we tend to run the same mileage. You were running around Sugar House Park on Saturday, correct? If so, I actually ran/hobbled (i.e., I'm trying to recover from a pulled hamstring) by you and had two thoughts this runner looks to be in more discomfort than myself and she looks a lot like that Bonnie from the blog. I was the tall, skinny guy that hobbled past you on the south side of the park and a biker/pacer was trailing behind me on the dirt path to make sure I was okay. Knowing that you are from AZ, I just assumed it was not you but a look alike or I would have introduced myself. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed your time in Utah and I hope you recover soon!

Major bummer! Take care, and I hope you have a good time and safe travels.

I'm sorry to hear about your leg. That is no fun at all. But I hope you're having a good time in Utah.

Thanks Dan ... I am trying to be smart (like my coach tells me to be)! I feel better today after some painful treatment.

Rossy!! I wish you had said hi, I would have loved someone to keep my mind off of how much my leg hut ;) I do remember seeing you (and your biker chaperone ;-)). I hope your recovery goes well. I am usually much more friendly when I am running, Saturday was just a bad day for me ... next time I promise I will encourage more communication!

Sno and CinC - it is fine ... better now than just before the marathon, I have plenty of time to get heathly and train well ... I had a great time, the wedding was awesome and I got to see so many new and old friends!

my leg actually "hurt" not "hut" -- but whatever ;-).
