4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (7 miles, 1:04:50). Slow run up the mountain. I was going to run this afternoon too ... but I am not sure I am going to now, it depends on how I feel later today. I ordered a new office chair - because of my sciatic and upper back problems. I got it off of eBay (I had to buy it myself because the University is broke) -- I am excited to see if it helps. I am also starting my core work today -- trying to get in 15-30 mins a day when I can - I am hoping this might help too.

PM: (4 miles easy).  I wanted to get home before it got dark and run from there -- but I was grading finals and it took way way longer than I had anticipated ... so, it was a dark run at Reid Park at about 8:30PM.  Felt much better than I did in the morning.

Have a great day bloggers!

Usually when you write your blog in the morning you add your anticipated PM miles to the total. You didn't do that today. I guess you're much less confident about this evening miles than you usually are.

I hope the office chair works wonders for you.

Yup - that is the beauty of "base" - I only run when I feel like it. I do try to stay on a schedule of sorts, mainly just to keep my body used to it, but I am only running because I want to and feel like it for the next few months. It is kind of "brushing my teeth" though, so it is likely I will run this evening, out of habit more than anything else. I have a housewarming party to go to tomorrow night so I won't be able to run then. I am definitely not a mileage junky though, so I won't sweat a mile or two here or there.

Good luck getting your house clean, the faster you do it the faster you will get to enjoy it (maybe with a nap).

ohhhh.... a new chair! how exciting! isn't it amazing how the smallest things excite us? they do me, anyways. if i were you, i'd be sitting in that chair all day; whether it were in the office or the living room... just roll it back and forth!

I hope the new chair helps! Sometimes I think NO CHAIRS AT ALL is the best solution, but haven't quite got there myself. Core routine will probably help also; all that hip and core work gets so tedious, so it had better be good for something!

How's the core workout's going? I bet you'll breeze through the first level. I just upped to level 3 of stage 2 today, definitely felt harder, and I will have to stage in the increases in one of the workouts (the metronome, my nemesis).
