4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

56:43 (29:13/27:30).  I was supposed to run 6 miles (or really 50 mins) - but I ran on my trail today (YEA!!) and I just didn't want to turn around when I was supposed to!!  It was so nice, I was a little slow on the technical parts (it is a little intimidating -- ok scary -- until you get used to it) but it was SO nice to be back.   I knew it would be "safe" again since we had a week of lows below 50F so most of the rattlesnakes are now hibernating or at least 'slow' by now.

Now I am on my way to 45-60 mins of pool running.  I wanted to pool run yesterday, but the Y closed early because of the holiday and we did not get back from Phoenix in time to make it.

I ran for 1:05 today (to make it a solid 2 hours of exercising). Mainly because I am going to indulge tonight and have a 5 guys grilled cheese sandwich ... about double the calories of most of my dinners (470 for grilled cheese and another 310 for 1/2 order of fries) -- I will feel guilty, but will get over it I am sure!  I guess I will have to do a lot of pool running again to make up for it!!  mmmmm good, it will be worth it!

I hope you all have a great day!

I hope I can enjoy it without too much guilt ... it was easier when I was running 70 miles/week (but even then I felt guilty -- and fat ;-)).

my indulgence: the rusted sun pizzeria in SLC makes the best vegan pizza ever. i sometimes like to eat there after a marathon. it's delicious (and worth getting "glutened" for a day). if i am feeling really dietarily permissive i will also get some coconut milk vanilla bean ice cream for dessert. it is extremely rich.

I think Pi makes a vegan pizza too ...

yum. now I am even hungrier ;-)

Eat to run. Run to eat!

I don't generally run to eat ... I try to eat just enough to keep the fire hot enough to run ... e.g. I really really watch what I eat. When I was young I could eat whatever I wanted and I never weighed more than 110-115 lbs ... once I hit my mid-thirties *everything* changed, and now that I am in my late 40's I have to watch every little thing I put in my mouth ... I am sure that the 50s aren't going to be much better ...

"5 guys grilled cheese sandwich" ???? That is either the name of a brand or you have one weird sandwich going on. ;)

Enjoy.

Sno, "Five Guys" is a chain that I used to LOVE when I lived in DC. They just opened a store here in town. They use only Idaho potatoes and peanut oil, so their fries are really incredible. It was a carb night for Dean, he really enjoyed it.
