5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

55:51.  Ran on the Yeatman trail.  Did a lot of thinking about running goals - and training - both short term (1 year) and longer term (2 + years).   This months Running Times has a great article by Max King (podcast of the article here) - and I spent a lot of time on this run thinking about what he said.  Although, I do admit this was not my smartest hour, I really do have to pay more attention these days, there are gazillions of lizards out (which means there are a lot of snakes) and I really do need to pay attention!!  It is hot here - I think we have been warmer than Phoenix (which is not common) - even though my Mom loves the heat, even she thought that the high of 98F yesterday made it difficult for her to do much walking outside.  Today she left really early to get some investigating done while it is on the cooler side - I think she was going to the botanic gardens (it is actually a park).  I think that next week is supposed to be a little cooler (highs of 90F ;-) ).

Have a wonderful weekend bloggers -- to all the blogging mothers out there: Happy Mother's Day!

Just got the stats from my race ... I was 9/1905 women and 43/2838 overall.  That said, I was second in my age group, where the first place finisher ran a 1:28:03 -- which is truly an incredible time and mine sort of pales in comparison.  That said, I was 3rd woman over 40, so I am pretty pleased.  There were, obviously, more women than men, which was pretty different from most races I have participated in.   Ok ... enough play, I have to go back to work!

98*?!?!?? Holy moly! Hopefully we will not see temps that extreme until July. I'm hoping that June isn't too bad. May has already been pretty hot though, so I doubt it. When we hit 98*, y'all will be hitting 115*. I can't imagine...

Have a lovely weekend with your mom for Mother's Day!!!

98???? I would be happy to see 68!!! My bike ride to work this morning was chilly.

Congratulations on your run! Fabulous times. Very impressive.

I'm going to have to go read that article. What are your goals?

From Bonnie on Sat, May 08, 2010 at 16:26:35 from 64.119.33.134

Hi Carolyn, nice run today - I hope you get a nap.

Goals ... marathon in January and then maybe another half next Spring. The next year will be another 5K-10K year (run lots of races - maybe the grand prix that they have here) get my 5K PR in line with my 1/2), maybe Boston or the Exeter marathon (running a qualifier is the only way to run it).

Yeehaw for Master Runners!! Go Bonnie, that's awesome placement, 9th WOMEN and OVER 40. We just have to keep up with all those Spring chickens don't we? I run with Kim who is 32, and an energizer bunny. Can't go back in time...all we can do is change the future : D
