10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

1:59:54 (1:02:42/57:11) 8:33 AP (8:57/8:10).  Same ole same ole.  Hot, sunny, I don't know what it was when I started but it was 92F when I finished, no shade, just me and the trail and the sun.  Speaking of which, did any of you see the eclipse?  I didn't, because I thought it was "last night" (really early in the morning) and it was the night before!  I am a dork.

Congratulations to Roes and Arbogast (men's and women's winners of the Western States 100) and all the athletes! what an accomplishment.  Roe annihilated the course record (Mehgan Arbogast was/is a famous marathoner-she has run in the Olympic Trials at least 5 times I believe).  One of my friends, Amy Dodson, was prematurely pulled from the course about 35 miles in, she still does not know why and is protesting the action.  It is really maddening, Amy lost a leg and a lung to cancer and is a phenomenal runner, she says she was not near any aid station with a cut-off time and was still well below the next cut-off time ... hrrrrumph!  I can't even imagine how angry she must be.

Also, congratulations to Anna Willard (Pierce) on being the new USA 1500 meter champion.  And wow Chaunte Howard (Lowe) broke her own American high jump record yesterday, and then went and took second place in the triple jump!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day of rest and  enjoy your time with your family!

SnoFlake saw the eclipse but didn't say anything to us until last night! Thirteen years olds.

That's great stuff! I really like Anna Willard-Pierce; I think it's great that she does not have the traditional runner body but is so incredibly fast. I don't know how you run in that heat! I will be in awe of you all summer!

wow, is SnoFlake a morning person or a night owl? good for her though, did she get any pictures?

April, it sucks, I hate it with a passion. But, I love to run. This year I have been able to survive it knowing that come next week I will be up in the cool pines of Flagstaff for a happy, cool month.

Well done for heat running eh! I had my own hot run yesterday and it really takes it out of you.

interesting about your friend being pulled from the course. how frustrating. if you hear anymore on that, please post. i'm curious about what happened.

Sam -- I had read about your run over at FB -- way to gut it out!!

KP - I found out a little more today (by the way, her name is Amy Dodson and she is on FB, I am sure she would friend you, she has a following). Apparently it was not just her, another woman (also on FB) was dropped at at Miller's Defeat, an aid station without a cut-off. The race director is now saying that he was told "they wanted to drop". Bogus, I think. I think that Amy had said they were about 2 miles to the next aid station with a cut-off, I don't know how close they were to the cut-off time. All I know is I get pissed when RD don't have courses correctly measured and send people in the wrong direction, I would be really really fuming right now if they did that to me in a 100 miler -- the whole support crew is affected. I have written letters to RDs and quit attending local races for much less than that ;-).

wow. very interesting. i know of a guy that was forced to drop by the medical staff at rucky chucky (almost at 80 miles), but he had lost 18 lbs and was peeing blood. he "wanted" to go on, but knows that he could've never finished.

your poor friend. i would be so mad. you're right about the crew, too! i didn't even take into consideration all of those people affected! super frustrating.

I was following it all day. Exciting race. The pack of 5 held together forever, and Anton was in it until the end. Great race.

Congrats to Arbogast, and that stinks about your friend. I've heard of her (she got mentioned on the ultralist). I'd be fuming, too

How maddening about Amy Dodson! So sorry to hear that.

Sorry the heat is getting you down, and I feel sorry for you, but please could you just send a tiny bit of summer to us here in the freezing cold, dreary PNW? I thought I might die of freezation yesterday and its the end of JUNE!
