9:30AM, 67F, 70% humidity. Can you believe it? 67F in the middle of August? What's going on with the weather? It must be due to this global cooling that everyone is talking about.

Anyway, the run was easy and pleasant (8:14 pace which felt very easy). I still have this pain in the upper part of my left foot. I'm afraid it is some kind of tendonitis related to the tendon which goes on the top of the foot (and whose name I don't know). 600mg of Ibuprofen take care of the pain after the run. Also the first 2 miles are more painful than the rest of the run. I really don't know what to do. Should I stop running till it goes away? Any advise will be appreciated.

I wish I could give you some good advice, but I never know what to say. But here are some of the normal ideas to consider:

Any chance you tied your shoes too tight once and aggravated something on the top?

Ice often.

Wierd it happened after a light week. But you could try running fewer miles or with less intensity.

There is always a time when the point has been reached to seek medical advice when all else fails. Hopefully it is a tendon and not a stress fracture of some kind.

I hope it gets right for you, and soon !

Scott,

I think it started with the way I tied my shoes on the long run last Sunday. This is when things started to hurt. There is something about Brooks shoes and the way they tie that my leg doesn't like. It happened with a previous pair but not as bad as it is now.

So far I took Ibuprofen (600mg kills the pain for 12 hours) and ice it. I think you suggestion to take it easy is probably what I should do. Today I'm suppose to do a tempo run - I think I will try an easy run and if it hurts cut it short.

Thanks for the advise!
