I live in upstate NY. I am the oldest of four kids. I've been running since the spring of 2003 when I decided to shed some extra weight and maybe go out for my high school cross country team. Currently am doing MS in Education. Hope to teach Social Studies one day. I have the most amazing girlfriend ever, and she frequently goes running/jogging/hiking with me. Going to marry her one day :)

4:00 PM - Got home early today after a rather bizarre day at school.  I have five 75 minute classes back to back on Mondays and Wednesdays, and in my fourth class I had a test which got out early, though I waited around because my last class of the day is in the same room.  Well usually the class starts coming in about 10 minutes before... though with 4 minutes to go it was me and another girl who was jabbering away on her phone.. All of a sudden three security guards come running down the hallway and go "You!  Out of the building! Now!  Grab everything and get outside!"  They made it sound like it was a Nazi invasion or something!  Well I gathered my stuff up and go outside in my shorts and sweatshirt into a freezing 33 degree rain/sleet only to find the campus security guard, Albany police force, as well as school officials telling us to "get back" and then to "go around to the far side of that building over there".  They wouldn't tell us what was up, and as the roads were being blocked off and stuff I decided to just high tail it out of there.  Makes me feel bad though.  That's the first class I have missed the entire semester.

So got home early and went for a run.  Felt pretty good.  Not too tight and felt steady.  Ended up doing 6.63 miles in 50:23, good for 7:36 pace/mile.

Total Mileage:  6.63    Total Time:  50:23     Avg. Pace Per Mile:  7:36

That's weird? Did you ever find out what the police were up to?

From Benn on Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 17:39:11

No but thankfully got home and got an email from the professor saying that class was effectively cancelled due to the building evacuation. I don't know. We've never had problems before, but it seemed fishy, like a bomb threat or a stabbing or something. They had the entire building cut off and it just seemed weird!

Let us know if you find out what happened. Glad you are ok.

If you haven't ditched all semester you must be as dedicated to school as you are to running.

So, not knowing New York like I should, why don't you tell us what school you are going to, what you are studying, what year your are in, etc?

So I got the scoop from one of my teachers.

It was a bomb scare. It appears an unattended laptop case was left in a foyer (sp?) for an extended period of time.

I currently attend the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. I am a senior, graduating on 12/15 of this year with a Bachelor's in History. I have applied to the graduate program in Education, but still no word as of if I will be accepted or not. I would hope they would accept me, as I am graduating Magna Cum Laude with ~3.84 GPA (that's with a couple rough semesters getting acclimated as a freshman).

I live in Middle Grove, NY which is about 45 minutes north of Albany, just to the west of Saratoga Springs *horse racing capital for northern NY
