Running Accomplishments:

6 marathons- Chicago 2001 (3:57...my goal was 5:00!), Chicago 2002, Venice Italy 2003, Okinawa Japan 2007, Okinawa 2008, Gold Coast Australia 2008

Plenty of half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, etc. Some PRs, some age group awards.

My most significant & defining running accomplishment was being named "Most Dedicated Runner" every season that I competed on my high school cross country team. A decade later, I still try to live up to that award!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Get closer to my marathon PR and eventually bust it!

Be more competitive (in time and in spirit) in shorter races.

Run a marathon before June 2009.

Run another marathon before Jan 2010.

Run at least 4 days a week.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Boston Qualifier...even if it takes me til I'm 80!

"Run" a triathlon.

My plans for a Christmas Eve morning run fell through...my cookies needed me more. So I went out for a nighttime run at almost 10pm, after our guests had been fed and those that remained were too busy playing Rock Band to notice if I took off!

I'm glad I went at night, because all the lights were on...between the clear sky, the holiday lights, and the street lights it hardly seemed like it was dark out! Pretty houses, quiet roads (I saw only 4-5 cars, 3 people walking, and a couple backyard parties going on), and nice cool weather. I've been listening exclusively to 172 Christmas songs on my iPod the past few days and the song running through my head (no headphones allowed!) was Elvis Presley singing, "Give thanks for all you've been blessed with and hold your loved ones tight, for you know that the Lord's been good to you on a snowy Christmas night." I thought it was appropriate...although I decided I'd need to change the words to "on a balmy Christmas night."

6 miles-52:50 total: 9:20, 8:58, 8:50, 8:41, 8:41, 7:56

Merry Christmas!

Marion, I live on Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa Japan...southern-most island chain of Japan and I'm pretty sure we're closer to Korea than mainland Japan! We're expecting temperatures in the mid-upper 70s this week!

Ohhh! That explains why your posts are early to me. Nice temps! I am trying not to be jealous! ;) I am guessing you are there with your husband?
