Running Accomplishments:

6 marathons- Chicago 2001 (3:57...my goal was 5:00!), Chicago 2002, Venice Italy 2003, Okinawa Japan 2007, Okinawa 2008, Gold Coast Australia 2008

Plenty of half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, etc. Some PRs, some age group awards.

My most significant & defining running accomplishment was being named "Most Dedicated Runner" every season that I competed on my high school cross country team. A decade later, I still try to live up to that award!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Get closer to my marathon PR and eventually bust it!

Be more competitive (in time and in spirit) in shorter races.

Run a marathon before June 2009.

Run another marathon before Jan 2010.

Run at least 4 days a week.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Boston Qualifier...even if it takes me til I'm 80!

"Run" a triathlon.

Another beautiful day here... I did think of all of you bundled-up runners and made sure I was extra-thankful for being out in shorts & short sleeves.

I ran the mile to the gym and then hopped on the treadmill to run 3 miles. I had a podcast to catch up on, and we're not allowed to run with headphones on base so that's why I opted for the treadmill!

I ran 2 miles at 8:00 pace on the treadmill and then slowed it down for a half mile. Ran one more at 8:00...this was very difficult for me, because it started at 2.5 instead of 2.0 and once the treadmill got to 3.0 I really wanted to stop instead of do that last half mile! I did do that last half mile though. I knew it would just take about 4 minutes, so I started counting, knowing that by the time I got to 160 I'd be finished. I always lose track and never get to 160, so it doesn't seem so bad. Anyway, the last .25 I decided that if I ran faster I'd be able to stop sooner, so I cranked it up to 7:40-something. A half mile to catch my breath before heading back outside for my mile home.

Of course, I was wearing a gray shirt, soaked with sweat and saw a girl I know on my way out... Good thing I know her from running group, so she's used to seeing me looking sweaty & gross!

Becca, nice marathon PR. Kool marathons you have run. Also, your goals, well within your reach if you live up to most dedicated. Being a military wife has some bennees, running all over the world. I was in the Navy and have ran in many places around the world, but, no races overseas.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

How was your podcast? Where do you get your podcasts from? Though I have to say I'm enjoying audio books, which idea I got from your mention of podcasts.

Great job on your run! I guess treadmills can be good at forcing you to run at a specific pace.

Brent- Lately I haven't lived up to Most Dedicated... and I just couldn't figure out why my marathon time dropped so much. Running 1-2 days a week just wasn't doing it for me! But since joining here, I've been sooo much better. Sure it's only been a week and a half, but who's counting?

Carolyn--I get my podcasts thru iTunes. Some I heard about through word of mouth and some I found (kind of hit-and-miss) by searching specific topics in iTunes. Yesterday's was highlights from my favorite morning radio show back home...it's really funny and I'm almost certain that people on the other treadmills wonder what I'm always laughing about!
