AArgh!!!! I don't know what else to say. A frustrating and tough race today overall.

Took a wrong turn and lost 3-4 min somewhere. I turned left at somewhere between mile 11-12 and did not figure out what was going on until I realized HEY!!! I can 't see Logan anymore! Oh jeez... I turned around and finished the race, and after motioning to Clyde next to me, proceeded to relieve myself of Gatorade orally. Sorry, It's what happened. Oh well I did the best I could. Teren and Logan were just awesome and after mile two I knew I had better back off or else. Clyde is really starting to improve again and I soon expect to be running neck and neck with him sometime soon. But all in all it was really fun though... Dark Horse out.

PS-Sorry about the 5th grade writing quality, I was in a hurry. Dark Horse out...

Not a bad time for 14 miles. Bummer. You know the sure-fire way of not getting lost is to keep up with the police escort.... Keep up the workouts and good things will happen.

Sorry to hear you pulled a Logan and got lost. Good race considering all that went on!

From Tom on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 18:23:49

Great job Steve! Sorry you had to run a bonus 3/4 mile or so.

Oh man that stinks!!! Oh well nest time.

From Kim on Sat, Apr 05, 2008 at 18:34:31

AAGGGH! I'm not sure I would even want to continue after going off course! Way to keep on going and end up with an awesome time anyway!

Good running today Steve. I too wish you wouldn't have missed the turn. Also good job spewing at the end. I'll give that effort a 10. I haven't watched something like that for a few years.

Good race! It has got to be so frustrating to get lost! Great time though with all your "extra" miles.

Stinks about the turn. I did the same thing in my first half marathon race to lose the lead and come in 3rd. Impressive time considering the weather and the mishap though.

Sorry about the wrong turn my friend.

From Jon on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 10:16:53

Nice race with one small mistake, today. No worries. Now just don't confuse yourself and go the wrong way at the marathon!

Keep up the good work!

Steve your still have quality races ahead and you can take this and build from it. Just think of your time if you won't have made a wrong turn that's the way I would look at this race.

From steve ashbaker on Mon, Apr 07, 2008 at 14:29:25

It's the way I have to look at it.

From Sasha Pachev on Mon, Apr 07, 2008 at 15:28:57

Just remember - it is in the marathon that you actually do turn! I took exact same wrong turn last year in the 30 K except I when I realized my mistake I was at the bottom of the hill already and had to decide if I was going to run to Ogden or to the Red Moose Lodge. I figured there was still $50 for me at the Red Moose Lodge, and nothing except very tired legs, and no car to get back home in Ogden. So I ran an alternate route to recover and ended up losing 3 minutes. But they gave that time back to me without any intervention on my part. I do not why, but since the time they gave me was fair I left it at that.
