Steve,

I wanted to ask you a question, if that is ok with you? I am feeling a little over whelmed. I am running the Salt Lake 1/2 marathon next week and I would like some advice on keeping a positive attitude toward reaching my goal of running a 1:28 half which is like a 6:45 pace. I am having a hard running at that pace and I need some advice on keeping a positive attitude. Any help would be great. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

Barry

Just remember that no matter your time, Your family will not look at you any differently as long as you give best efforts. Start out at a pace that is still somewhat conversational, It should feel comfortably hard. Understand what I'm saying? Do not attack the uphills and flow efficiently on the down. I always practiced my goal pace every other day for a mile or so at the end of the run and this helped me tremendously in my confidence. Is this goal realistic? And have you come close to this anywhere else?
