Grew up outside Chicago and joined the blog while I lived in Salt Lake City. Now living outside Birmingham. I am married with two daughters. Wife thinks I'm crazy for doing marathons. And yes I am crazy I'm a scientist for a living...
Rest and recovery. Try and get some extra rest to kick this cold. Felt a little worse than yesterday. My throat was completely dry when I woke. Mostly a relaxing day just some walking around the neighborhood with the family.
Late AM loops of SH with Kaitlyn. The pace was nice and easy pushing the stroller. My legs feel surprisingly good concidering the downhill effort on Sat. It was the first morning in about 4 days that my nose wasn't completely stuffed upon waking. Later in the day went on multiple walks with the family. Really tired but feeling better.
PM run in the storm. It was nice running in the rain, very refreshing. I'm feeling a lot better than the weekend. Actually a little back pain from the downhill running? My cold is almost completely gone. No Garmin.
Tapering always drives me a little crazy. I was on daddy duty tonight and ran on the treadmill. I put in a tape that I thought was Running Brave and got a surprise that my college senior cross-country conference meet was on before the movie. I can't believe that it was already 8 years ago. I did 3 easy miles and then two at marathon pace. I kept my heart rate just over 150 during the pace miles and within two minutes of stopping was already back down below 100.
First three with Kaitlyn and Sandra, then seven on my own. Back is still a little sore and I'm not 100% over the cold. I would put myself at about 80% right now. One week to go and only rest in the forecast.
