This is the premier race in Alabama. It is run as the State Championship and therefore brings out all the runners including a large number that travel etc.
Luckily traffic and parking are not issues here so I got up at 6:30am, left at 7am, and got to the start line with about 30 min to warm-up. It is also hosted out of a show venue so you don't even have to deal with porta potties.
It was raining this morning though. Fortunately that brought in some cooler weather. It was close to 80 yesterday but 60s this morning. The rain was more of a mist during the race and didn't really pick up till the cool down.
Ran with a number of different people but was mostly mixed in with some of the top females. I will also have to confess that I was beat by a guy pushing a stroller... But at least it was Damon Cox.
Overall, I was happy with the run and my only goal was to break 40 so I got that.
The course has a pretty good hill in the middle.
