A Balance, Redefined

Busy day. Did the Statue to Statue again. It is a fun tough race. There is a killer hill at the 10K mark. Even without training I only finished about 2 min slower than last year. Mostly had to do with the perfect weather and a nice guy passing through to the beach who stopped to race. This is a point to point. I started somewhat back owing to my lack of training and just went with a few people. Since I started back I got to pass people for the first 3 miles. One guy passed me during this time but ran with me to chat. Seemed nice and helped me pick up the pace a little but I let him go. His parting words were that I'd see him again. Then I was more or less solo until the major hill. At that time a person passed me but then paced with me so I went with him. I was struggling to I eventually wished him good luck. At this point though I did catch up with the earlier guy. That lit a fire and on the final downhill I just flew and passed two more people. Overall, I was very happy with the performance. Rushed home showered and then headed to the airport for a meeting in San Diego...
