Had to work this morning and will have to work more today. But took a long break in the late morning with the family for a run to the Memory Grove overlook. On the way back we stopped both at a playground for a little and had brought a kite with in the stroller and stopped to fly that for a little as well.

nice job getting in your runs despite the heavy workload this week.

also, pushing two girls while gaining 1500+ feet in elevation is quite the workout!

Allie, I'm so sorry to read about your stress fracture. It is so frustrating when our will is stronger than our bodies. I hope that it is a speedy recovery and closer to the 4 wk than the 8 wk. Good luck getting through that.

Way to keep it balanced.

Hey I forgot to respond to your question the other day about race plans. As it is, I really don't have any for the rest of the year. There's a local 5k in July, and then a 1/2 a week after that. I may run one or both of those. Just plan on taking it easy this year, avoid injury, and hopefully get stronger.

Looks like you might have something coming up this month?

Hi JD,

I try my best. Are you thinking the Canyon to Canyon 1/2? I think my wife may run that one. As far as me, June 11th is the goal. See what I can do for a 1/2 marathon. It has been since TOU 2009 that I have raced anything more than 4 mi. I may also do Des 10K. Any thoughts about heading out for that one?

UVM! Awesome!

Canyon to Canyon looks good. I used to run and mt. bike that road often, 20 years ago. But no, Farmington has a 5k/10k/and half every year for their "Farmington Festival Days". I've never run it - maybe this year. On the morning of the race, I can warm up by jogging the half mile from my house to the starting line!

I'm looking forward to it. The field looks stacked so I'm not looking to break into the winners circle but it should help pull me along to a fast first race back. My last half was a 1:13 but I feel much slower than that now. For me running even one mile at that pace has me winded recently. Your FFD 1/2 also looks like a good race. Plus you can't beat the warm-up and being able to train on the course. That is why I liked SLC marathon.

Great run and family time with the girls. Great way to spend the day.

Hi Kory, What has been going on? Things seemed to be falling in place for you a couple weeks ago. Did you hit a rough patch?

From Kory on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 13:03:14 from 184.155.141.249

Ya I've had sort of a setback. I was 100ms from my house on May 26 and all of a sudden had a pain in my groin or titanium rod leg. It gets swollen if I walk on it a lot. I can't even run on it because it's an extreme pain.

I think (not sure) I might have broke some hardware inside, but I'm having x-rays on Monday to find out what's going on. I can do the Arc Trainer (form of an Elliptical) and it doesn't hurt. I've been doing that for 6 miles a day. My Doctor told me several months ago that he wouldn't be surprised if I broke something inside.

From Adam RW on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 17:01:44 from 24.10.132.131

Kory, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm happy you are able to do something but so frustrated to hear that you had to take a step back again. Good luck getting up and running sooner than later...

From Kory on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 09:25:50 from 184.155.141.249

Adam I'll let you know if the X-rays show anything this morning or what the Doctor says. I really think though I have a groin pull.

I also have a infect lump on my shoulder that will have to be lanced. I had my friend wife come over who is a nurse and she couldn't drain it because its a hard lump like a cyst. She says it needs to be lanced by a doctor. It's like the size of a golf ball. It's also affecting the lymph nodes. I going to have fun with doctors today.
