So here’s the question, to comment on work or not. I guess stress and sleep are a part of training so I’ll keep with the updates. Know though that Saturday was a very encouraging run. Even more so that this morning my knee wasn’t falling off. That being said I ended up working a total of 26 hrs between Sat and Sun and that is taking out breaks for running/family/sleep and eat time. The bad part is I still didn’t “finish” the draft of the review. I’m just under 5000 words and 13 double spaced pages (w/ title pg etc) so progress has been made but the next two weeks are going to be even crazier than the last two. The worst part is that this morning I actually set my alarm for an extra 1.5 hr of sleep and I was wide awake just before 6am anyway, at least my body allowed one of those hours. Wish me luck. Commute run in via SugarHouse. Saw a full grown male peacock walking down the sidewalk on 13th… There is a little sanctuary there across from Westminster and I guess they can come and go as they please. Avg. 9:14

Good luck with all the work stresses, I am sure you will get the review done. Hang in there!

Good luck Adam ... I hear you on the work stresses. I am always debating on whether or not to discuss work issues, but it is true that work stresses and running stresses are so intertwined (we will assume that family "stresses" are of the positive kind) it is hard not to discuss them on my blog.

The good thing about running, for me, is that I can actually think about work while I am running, and sometimes I can get things "drafted" in my head. I do this when I am laying in bed trying to sleep but unable to as well, but the "sleeping" work really does not pan out when I get up (most of the time I will remember these "thoughts" and think, why would I ever believe that would work??).

I am giving a talk at Surgical Grand Rounds this week, it is televised!! Not good timing really, since my grant is due June 12th!

Writing marathons are often more grueling than running marathons! Good luck.

I hate it when you finally can sleep in but still wake up early! Or finally get to bed early but lie awake for several hours!

Jeff, Things are moving along. I'll try and update in a moment.

Bonnie, Thank you for the advice. Sometimes I wish I knew what I was getting myself into earlier. However, I can't imagine doing anything else... Good luck with your work as well. Is your talk on a channel I would get back here?

Paul, That goes to show how tired I was. I didn't even make the connection with the 26hrs...

Jon, Or your baby is up from 2am to 5am like last night...

Hey Adam, I hope I don't regret this ... and please remember that biology/biochemistry is not my field ... but here is a link to my talk:

Try to stay awake for the punchline ;-)

Bonnie, Thanks for the link. The first time I tried watching, it wouldn't load. I'll try again this weekend.
