Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

The stress levels around here are really stacking up.  I didn't have any time for crosstraining, just my sad little walk-run.  3 minute walk, 7 minute jog x3.  I ran the 1 mile dirt loop by  my house so I know I covered over 3 miles in the process.  I like running on dirt better--less phantom pain.  The "sensations" I seem to get aren't even in the same place as the fractures.  I am hyper-aware of any sensation but honestly I haven't experience anything I would call pain.  My legs feel good.

those post-injury phantom pains can be tricky. i am glad your legs are feeling good.

yes... they can (be tricky) so IGNORE them because I am sure the FRACTURES are healed. Hey I ran on my BROKEN foot after foot surgery, it swelled up tons and the dr. said it was still broken (xray) so I better take some calcium and actually stay off it. Well, let's just say that I took the calcium...and still kept running :D My right foot is NOW my bionic foot. Wish my left foot would shape up....I guess I need surgery. BTW it was bunion surgery so the break was intentional in the surgery (1996), and I had two pins in it. I thought "hey I am still going to exercise" and about two days after surgery I rode my bike over 16 miles up the canyon. I am telling you this story for a good laugh...but also, that since you actually LAID off your legs they are more than likely healed. You have been taking your vitamin D and calcium right? : D

Amen sisters I have to believe they are healed...the x-rays looked fantastic and I haven't done anything rash or overboard..I am following the gradual comeback schedule(it's hard but I don't want to be re-injured). Julie I am still on prescriptions Vitamin D(drisdol) for 6 more weeks, taking two viactiv chews a day, and drinking milk like a sailor! And...historically my broken bones have always healed quickly. My metatarsal stress fracture in high school healed in 3 weeks, and it had a visible "V" fracture line on x-ray! I had open knee surgery for a completely snapped kneecap(seriously!) and was walking without crutches a week later(they hurt my armpits so I ditched them).

Nice, 3 miles! I bet you'll really feel every little thing until you get more confident while running. Then you'll ignore everything like we all do.

I really think this is pretty normal after a serious injury (not that I have had one, but so many have and they all say the same thing!) You are being VERY smart, so just have confidence that you are healed and follow the plan!!!

I love the comment about the stress levels....AH, life!!!
