Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Rough run today but faster than it felt.  My left foot hurt right off the bat but quit hurting after the first mile.  My legs were tight and my breathing felt stiff and all in all it was pretty miserable.  I cursed every cigarette I have ever smoked.  I wanted to run at a good steady pace but it felt like I was barely moving and by the end I was just trying not to give in to the temptation to stop and walk, so I was pleasantly surprised when I checked my time at the end and it was 5 miles in 48:40.  I'm going to run at a comfortable pace tomorrow!

Great mileage!! Don't worry it gets easier everyday you're away from smoking. How long has it been since you stopped smoking?

My last cigarette was 5 weeks ago. I was cutting down before that, but didn't go all the way until 5 weeks ago. Then I really started running more seriously because I feel if I do not run I will go right back to smoking. Running has replaced smoking as my "me time" and stress relief.

Awesome, it sounds like you're on the right track. I've heard and believe that it takes 21 days to make/break a habit. 5 weeks is quite an accomplishment!!! I use to do 25 situps every time I had a craving. My stomach was so sore the first couple of weeks.

5 weeks down.... a lifetime to go. Keep it up, it'll be worth it.
