Started the morning with 3 easy miles then went to Liberty Park to run the Brain Injury Association 5k. I mysteriously put on 5 extra pounds on Monday putting me at a whopping 190. I didn't think I would see that on a scale ever again. It did come down a little but still am feeling a lot heavier than I would like. There was a really big turnout but it is a pretty non-competetive race. Some guy from WRC took off at the start and was gone in the blink of an eye. Started out quick and new it was going to be a slow race. I checked my watch at what I felt would be the mile and was only 1/2 mile into the race. Not a good sign at all. First mile was 6:00 but I was rapidly slowing. Was passed by a guy just past the first mile and could not keep up with him. Second mile was 6:24 followed by another 6:24 for the third mile. I was doing a lot of grunting during the last mile. Definitely not a great race but it is what I expected. The most frustrating thing is that this was my tempo pace last year. Maybe I will let my weight continue to go up so that I can start racing in the clydesdale division. Only 10 pounds to go. |
