I'm trying to think of something exciting or interesting to report from today's run but I can't.  I got up, went running (every mile was within a couple of seconds of each other) and now I'm here blogging about it.  I finished my 7.10 mile run at 7:10 which is a little interesting.

Andy, you're cracking me up with all this "I'm boring" talk. I do like the 7.10 at 7:10 twist though. Here is what is intersting to me (and amazes me). From what I gather, you always train this way and you are so darn fast! I was never able to start getting fast until I started doing all the speed work, hills, tempo runs, etc.

How did that happen? You finished your 7.1 mile run at 7:10!!! :) You just put one foot in front of the other and then WHAM there it is, a magical moment in your running history which is by the way INCREDIBLE!!! Like Forest Gump said: "Ya never know what you're gonna get." Keep on keep on, Andy the Steady Speedy man!!!

Rhett - When I'm seriously training for a marathon I have one day a week that includes speed work (either a tempo run or V02 max work). This year I didn't do as much because I was either tapering for or recovering from a race. The lack of speed work has done more damage psychologically than physiologically for me. You can accomplish a lot with just base mileage but there are definitely psychological advantages on top of the physical benefits to doing speed work.
