My legs felt very sore this morning.  Is it possible that I am still recovering from the half on Saturday or am I just old and out of shape?  Took a little detour to extend the run to 6 miles instead of 5.  Really want to get back up to 9/day.  I was almost there at the beginning of July.

I am looking at the Mt. Nebo half in September.  Anybody familiar with how steep the canyon is?  Based on gmap-pedometer, it is a very significant downhill but I am not sure that is accurate.

Andy I've run down this Payson canyon route a ton of times. It is VERY steep (5-10% grade) especially the first 8 or 9 miles. This maybe the fastest 1/2 course in the state, but also the most likely course on which to get seriously injured. Be very careful if you run this one and make sure you do some steep downhill training runs beforehand, otherwise you'll likely be even more sore afterward than after SGM

Thanks, Tom. gmap-pedometer showed an average of 5+% grade and what you say confirms it is correct. I think Spanish Fork is on the same day and I was thinking of that one as well. I'm assuming you will be running that one.

Yeah Spanish Fork 1/2 is probably the best bargain around as far as the price and quality of how the race is organized, prizes, etc. But it's certainly not a PR course, out-and-back with a loop in the middle, slower than a true flat 1/2 because of the hills in the middle.

Looking at my schedule I actually have a 22-23 miler planned for that week so I don't know that I'll be racing anything. I'm actually looking for a 1/2 to race the week before.

Spanish Fork has a new course this year eliminating the *lollipop hill loop*. Great hometown feel and organization. It makes for a perfect tempo run or tune up race. Wish I was running it this year!
